Title: New catch dog prospects
Post by: Sam3030 on March 12, 2013, 02:24:22 pm
These two came out of California. Alapaha blue blood bulldogs. Breeders name is Peter Morales. Haven't hunted them yet but they both catch and I'm sure will do just fine....(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/03/13/zesaqe4e.jpg)(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/03/13/e7uvybaz.jpg)

No boxer in them I'm guessing because there still pups you can confuse them with other bull breeds. They are full blooded alapahas

The pups have alot more muzzle than I'm used to seeing around my neck of the woods in Alapahas. Nice pups, hope they work well for you.

Originating from English Bulldog stock, this dog's ancestors functioned as cattle and pig herders, but the Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog is bred solely for security and companionship. The Animal Research Foundation (ARF) was the first all-breed registry to ever recognize the late Ms. Lana Lou Lane's "Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldogs" in 1986. Ms. Lane was an ARF Certified Breeder up and until her passing in 2001, after which time her elderly mother, Mrs. Vivian Lane, took over her business affairs. Later, Mrs. Vivian Lane sold her daughter's kennel.
The Alapaha Blue-Blood Bulldog is one of several breeds said to resemble the early Bulldogs of England. He is a “catch dog,” whose job it is to catch, hold and drive unruly cattle and hogs, but these days he is primarily a family companion and protector. The Alapaha is a large dog, weighing 60 to 95 pounds, and has a big square head, a solid and muscular body, and a short coat in white or other colors, including brindle, Merle, black trimmed with white.

American bulldog( Johnson type or olde EB )crossed with Leopard curs and line bred from there. Nice looking dogs, but that is all they are. I am a certified ARF judge and the ARF is there to make money and they will publish or register anything you pay them too. They should work nice until it gets hot.

I personally haven't hunted one but I have judged them in an Iron Dog event. Hard hitter with a lot of drive! Heat tolerance was better than a hybrid AB, but not as good as a standard AB or Pit ( don't confuse a pit with a bully or pet bull) I am not downing the dogs at all, but the story of them being old working stock that has been around forever is a bit far fetched in my opinion. I have been offered one before and I turned it down because I have not had much luck with any hybrid AB or similar breed handling the work load that I put on them during grain season. Please don't take my comments in an offensive way because that is not my intention at all. I was just answering the question about their origins with the info that I was given by the ARF. I'm sure if there is a strain that was bred off the old Stout lines that performs really well or a lot better than your typical hybrid AB, but as in every breed there are some that are the exception but as a whole I personally wouldn't want to fool with them. However, I certainly would like to see how the compare to one of my working bulldogs during July-September in the corn fields. Have not found anything yet that can handle the heat like those Jeep and Carver dogs.

I proved out some performance abs from a breeder in Arizona and they are studs in my opinion but not as good as my alapaha come visit us during the grain season we run 25000 + acres and you can see him wk then u can make ur observation I'd agree to say that some ain't breed to hunt just like some abs and bully pits but that's how it goes the dam to the pups we r proving out was a stud endurance wise so only time will tell on there side but my alapaha has been on hundreds of hogs and has never disappointed me mo complaints here

Could you post a pic of Tiny? I would love to see his structure and muzzle length. How is he about dog aggression? I know some of the ones I have been around where slap ignorant dog aggressive, but that is what bulldogs do. You just have to be careful with them.

The red dog is my catch dog... Game bred pitbull has some carver and old family red nose blood. Crazy dog has alot of heart... So what y'all think about tiny good looking dog huh he's a super dog and very athletic I like him alot. Just to have a bulldog with cat colors is awesome and sometimes they even have blue eyes. We will be breeding him soon and hopefully get some good working stock out of him. Thanks guys
