Title: Running pads off
Post by: swampdonkey_70 on March 14, 2013, 05:04:32 pm
My best dog keeps running her front pads off. We rest her for several weeks to let her heal but the first time she goes back she runs them off again. Any suggestions??? Thanks

Three things for me put that dpg on caleche or rocks something hard and rough   mix pine tar and turpintine togather and dip her feet in it everyday third is you can take super glue put on their pads then dip them in ground up leaves or what I always wanted to try was ground up rubber. I have done all and the best it the chleche that way the feet have to harden

Use tuff foot.... I used it every day for two weeks then every other day... Seems to be working...

Man I had the EXACT same problem on my lead plott.  I started using a product called Pad-N-Heal.  Thr more I used it the better.  I ended up laying her up for three weeks, using the pad-n-heal almost daily.  The first time out she started making a long chase, as soon as I had a chance, I picked her up.  Even though she wanted to go, I held her back.  I kept doing this letting her go a little longer each time.  As of now her feet are good.  I have to watch her carefully as I know it will happen again if she gets in a long race without of tuffening up period.

I just used the small can of tar at tsc and a regular can of turpintine mixed in a plastic container

Wipe them with  turpintine two times a day for a few days .   Best thing I ever seen for sore are broke up feet .

Try to find some formaldyde & mix half & half with 7% iodine.Put on pads 5 days in a row & head to the woods. No more pad problems.

Bolo I have heard that also but couldnt find any of the formaldyde but I was told just that brushed on not soaked because it couldd hurt their feet but is suposed to be durn good at tuffening their pads
