A pill you can get from the vet called comfortis, a little pricy but is by far the best I've used and spray your yard with demon wp you can get that at most fee stores

  permetherin 10%  on yard , dogs and kennels .   get a product called     MARTIN'S I.G. REGULATOR .  and mix and spray according to label on a perimeter around the kennel and in the kennel it's self  [ NOT ON DOGS ]   be sure and read the photo degradation of the products  i.e. the martins is effective in the direct sunlight for ten days   . do this start NOW  and don't let up till they are gone  .  and then get you a maintenance schedual set up and stick to it   .  

sell all your dogs and light the yard on fire!  ;D

To sell a dog because it has fleas is the dumbest thing I have ever heard! For someone to buy a flea infested dog to bring back to their place and spread them on their yard and to the rest of their pack is rediculous and if some one did that......well..... Seven dust granuels x2!!! Works real good, and you can get pills or a liquid drop that you can administer yourself from tractor supply, any feed store or you local vet. If you have pens that are not on a concrete slab, on the ground you can also spray diesel, or if you have wooden pens burn the pens and build new ones after the fleas are gone, then make sure you administer flea meds to you dogs annually or as often as the medication requires you to do so. Another trick for your yard is using a sprayer that hooks up to you water hose... Fill the sprayer full of dawn dish soap and spray your yard, the soap will harden and suffocate the fleas! I am partial to seven dust though!

10% permethien all the way. Mix it in a 20% by volume for kennels n yard and 10% for dogs

x3 on the 10 percent permetherin and bayer tree and shrub or ortho tree and shrub max...just make sure it is fertilizer free and 1.47 percent active ingredients...just pour 15 cc's on your dog and rub it in to the skin on his topline and/or belly...you have to break the cycle in the yard and use any poison that disrupts the flea cycle...once the fleas are gone keep other dogs and cats out of your yard...

Burning your pens doesn't strike me as very intelligent either. How about dynamiting them? Deamond works good. Mix in a little malathion would help with some residual. An insect growth regulator is important method of prevention. It breaks the life cycle by not letting juvenile fleas mature so they aren't able to lay eggs. If you can find one with nylar in it as the active ingredient, it would be a good thing. That one lasts for up to 6 months.

But on a serious note, my family has always put garlic in our dogs food. We've never had fleas.

I treat my dogs about twice a year and fleas are always under control...the dogs are kennelled on concrete but I let them run in the back yard about 1 hour a day...the yard is sandy but no fleas...

I use permerherin on the dogs back bout once a month. ( I just pour a few CC  directly on the dog no mixing) and I get pure sulfur that's crushed up real good and throw it out in the yard where the dogs are haven't had a problem since I started this.

The most deadly thing I've ever seen on fleas is pine sol (sp?). Bathe your dogs in it it'll at least give them some relief. Make sure you rinse it off good.

Some on here referred that ultra shield, it's for horses and does it all, fly,fleas,ticks,mosquitoes. I ve been using it and seems goo pretty cheap too. 19.99 at local field store and its a big spray bottle. It's also waterproof for 17 days. To the yard I do ditomaces earth, (DE) haven't seen any problems in my yard. If I see a few fleas I then use the demon. But demon is kinda a pain says let dry before allowing dogs back on it. How to keep 6 dogs in a house? Haha

Comfortis is the best hands down.

   yes there are many , many  methods and pills and salves and creams for the dogs , witch is very good to treat the dogs for fleas cause with fleas come , tape worms and many other parasites .  but if you are not treating your yard and kennels , you are spinning your wheels . most of these products the flea has to bite the dog to work , once bitten the flea dies . you are still going to have to treat the kennel and yard and the well any kind of flea killer will work on the flea it's self . but in a bad infestation you  MUST also treat with an  INSECT GROWTH REGULATOR  to break the fleas life cycle or once again you are just spinning your wheels .  bunch of good advice on this thread but most times it is just responded to put this or that on the dog , when in reality the yard and kennel are your biggest problem that needs treating .

I have used comfortis to treat 7-8 dogs for about 5 years. I have never had to spray yard or kennels since using it. It costs about $100 a year. Usually, now the fleas are gone I only have to give it to them one maybe two times a year.

I had a heck of a time for a long time fighting fleas and it seemed a never ending battle.

I love it and would never go back to pumping up a sprayer!

You do have to use a spray or something for ticks occasionally.

I give it to my dogs 2 maybe 3 times a year... no need to spray the yard or anything.

Is it good to rid a fly problem too? I aint had an issue with fleas, just flys n skeeters. The permethin works, along with the ultra shield. Nvr seen or heard on confortis, but if its better for flys for a longer time, if i can find it, i'll give a wirl

I have heard of the garlic in the dogs food but honestly never tried it. I personally just use the comfortis pills like others have suggested.......I have hell with the flies around my yard during the summer tho........I have tried just about everything to get rid of em, gonna try cattle ear tags this summer attached to their collars to see if they will help any, anyone else have any remedies???? I don't wanna burn up my yard again and im fresh out of dynamite!

Dawn dish washer soap blue ( works great too) use it a lot for puppies with fleas.

I have used countless bottles of the blue dawn over the years on pups.......It will kill the flea's in a hurry but it doesn't last as far as a treatment goes, within a week they usually have em again but its great to use until they are old enough for other forms of treatment, in my opinion anyway

Justin, the ear tags work, but the 10% permethin sprayed on the dogs and a 20% mix sprsyed on the ground, on and in the dog houses works but a reapply 1x a wk will kerp them gone

Charles, I use the permethin on the dogs and all over the yard, especially in the kennel area........I swear that the strain of flies I have use that stuff like steroids.......it don't slow em down a bit........I would say that it helped with the flea's but I started giving my dogs comfortis around the same time that I started spraying the yard with it........I don't know if one is better than the other or not but I don't have any problem with fleas since I started using them.

Charles if you have a tractor supply near you, they carry a fly product called golden marlin. It is a fly attractant. It looks like little blue rocks, take a little cup and fill it up and spread it on the ground in front of your kennels. Try not to pile it up to heavy....just walk in a line about three or four feet in front of your pens with it. Within one day all the flies will be dead and laying on or near that line! If you have time get a cold beer and a chair and watch it in action. They flock to it and kill over dead within seconds
