I got a hunting place but in order to hunt my dogs I also have to trap as part of the deal im using corn    and hog wild and ant having luck what are yall using other than dogs

Sour corn works great, have caught hogs using jello mix too, just put the jello powder on top it's best if you tie the gate up an get the hogs coming first then set it, you'll catch more at a time this way before they catch on. Just about any kind of feed like oats and silo soured works great

Corn liquor mash. 50lbs corn, 5-20lbs sugar (dependin how fast u want it to sour) n additional speed up, a couple pack of self rising yeast. A 55 gal drum, pour concoction in drum, just add water n wait a wk if its hot, a couple wks if its cool temps. A couple smaller hogs in the trap to help entice others to join mite work too.

Im no pro but I soaked corn in I big deal of fruit punch mix that ruint n it worked

Pretty much any sweet n or soured stuff SHOULD work. Trap smart hog though may or may not go in it though. A big 5-10 cattle pannel pen/trap mite work too as long as food, water n shade are there n then u could use the trojon hog n c if u get a bite from the other hogs in the area

Got a new donut shop just opened. Want to get the stales and try them. I have seen corn mash and the jello thing work good.

If the mash n jello dont for the hogs, u can always make jello shots at the nxt bonfire or bbq  ;D

Use a big panel trap. Wire the door open and get them used to going in and out. Then drop the door and catch them.

Look up insights hog bait best stuff I have found dont want to buy it get u a bunch of skiddles whole or soak in water boil what ever to make a surup by far the best I have used ever hogs love it
Just dont be trapping around me I dont want to catch your trap smart hogs lmao.  I first tried it with my pen hogs and they took it over everything else it started a heck of a brall in my pig pen that was funny

Yeah, we use corn soaked in diesel too. The reason isn't due to attracting them, it's to keep the deer outta the trap...  had a nice 10 point get trapped a couple of years ago, and the buck darn near tore his bottom jaw off while fighting to get out. we just shot him and tied him to a mesquite tree so the horns wouldn't be drug off by the yotes.

you might try hanging an ole piece of carpet on a tree close to your trap and soaking it in used motor oil. just something that will attract hogs to the area...

I use a five gallon bucket. Put a good bit of corn add water to the top of the corn and a few packets of yeast helps too. Put a lid on it for about five days in direct sunlight. Then I pour a cup of diesel before I head to the trap. Diesel keeps the coons off of it. I don't mind the deer eating it but I darn sure don't want to feed the coons behind our place. Sometimes I wish I was in to coon hunting lol. There is literally dozens behind our house!!!

Spot light and a 22 you can put a dent in the coons. If you are not far I may be willing to come over one night and pick a few off for you.

Hell, be my guest! I get one from time to time but I don't have the patience to sit out there all night and shoot coons. Awe hell but I do have a coon trap in my shed! To bad I don't have about ten traps lol. Just need to find someone that wants to give me a few dollars for em when I catch em so it helps with corn. I know a few old men that will take my offer any time.

Hell, eat the coons. That'll save a lil on grocery money that was displacrd by buyin corn. They r good eatn

Starbursrt candy works like a champ.   But if you want to catch several wait till summer when water is hard to find and panel in a small waterhole..never have to bait it and as long as hogs are around you will catch them.  GUARANTEED

I've done a lot of trapping and big red soda and corn work just fine.

Guess I could do that Charles. I've had it on the pit before and it taste good. Just don't want my dogs to see it after I catch it. They are real gamey and it would be bad news for them if they tried to trash on a coon.

.22 to the ear in the trap, clean trap n bait it again. U using live traps or foot hold? We used to use a steel 55gal drum, hole cut in top bout the size of a 5gal bucket, sardines in the bottom of of drum, 6-8" tree limb leaned up against the drum to allow the coons to get on top of drum n drain sardine juice up the limb. We dang near caught them all out on nearly 2ac in the winter/fall time back in the late 80s early 90s.

I use a live trap, but that 55 gallon drum truck sounds like it will work like a charm. I know they want corn bad. They chewed the funnel up on my feeder so it would pour it all on the ground. They are 100# in three days!! With a little help from the deer.

Id set me out a barrel with molases n corn n c how many u catch. U can even put a thing of water for them, as to ensure they r treated humanely n not tortured, like some foljs do to hogs n other animals that we dont know bout.

Sour corn and dust lightly with strawberry gello.  The gello forms a coating that they just can't resist and I spray sow in heat all around the outside as well.

Why would u need to vent it? There is good size hole in the top, no need in puttin any more holes. Durin the fall n spring months, we would ck every 24hrs, winter n summer was every 12hrs. Put a water trough or bowl in it so they got water.

I put 50lb of corn, 1 cherry mix and 1 strawberry mix jell-o, water and 5lb of sugar. all mixed up in a 55 gal steel drum with the lid on. Temps should be mid 80"s this week. There's 3 fist size plugs on top, I have one removed, I just didnt know if i need to seal it up, or just let it breathe. thats my question. Thnks


 I'm gonna try and bait my honey hole with this every week. Along with my ususal fresh dose of Motor oil. Loggin does have some benefits lol.

Ok, yes. Vent the drum or u mite end up with a split barrel or possible small explosion from the expansion n fermintation of the corn
