Title: quit a bay
Post by: gcarmouc001 on April 28, 2013, 08:08:24 pm
Have u guys ever had dogs quit baying? Dogs struck today and as i was going to them they quit barking, so i figured they were trashing. But as i got closer to them i could hear grunting but no baying. So i kept walking and there is a monster boar standing in the thickeds and the dogs were'nt baying just sitting down looking at him. I ve caught many hogs behind these same dogs. Any advice?

There are some boar out there, like certain bear that will put the fear of god in some dogs. Hate to hurt your feelings but top dogs will bay the bad ones as well as the easy ones. Unless the dogs were to hot to bark & burned out, there is no excuse for a dog to quit while the hog is still there. jmo

I've seen dogs get bored and do it on a hog that stands still and won't move or a hog that lays down.

Sounds like the dogs prolly tired , I had dog bay a hog so long the hog was laying in water dog sittin in water looking at him if it wasn't for tracking system would of never found him they both was tired an hot

If the dogs were still there with the hog they didn't quit

Now just coming back to you leavening hog is quiting

X2......don't worry about it man,.....unless it starts happening regularly, which I doubt will happen.
