Title: Insite on dog styles Post by: Hogsnatchers on June 02, 2013, 10:58:34 pm I've seen some dogs describe that they only like dead silent dogs and they don't like them to open up at all even if a hog breaks a couple yips is unacceptable. Any insite as to why so strict on the not opening especially after they bay and the hog breaks and they get a yip or two?

I just like to know when I hear a bark it means a bayed hog. But open dogs catch hogs too I just prefer silent ones

Just didn't see that as a issue really. Just noticed some say it they run dead silent dogs and opening a little if they break is unacceptable so was wondering what the reasoning is I guess.

I know mine does and its no fun trying to get through a pine thicket with bulldog caught at 500 yards.

And anybody that says that hasn't hunted where hogs run bad . The determining factor in catching runnin hogs is Bottom = ( endurence til the end ) I've hunted and owned silent ,open , ruff and loose and any real hog hunter will tell you they don't catch them all ! ;)
