Grant it, my cut is small... 1.5" long 1/4" deep on my mid stomach area. A stranger caught wind and made it a point to message me on facebook and said to get to the hospital or dr office within a day or so to get shots and whatnot. How many of you have gotten cut, and how did you treat it? Did you go to the dr? Infection? Just wondering if I need to go in, in the morning. The sow in the pic bumped me twice loading her me this morning... just felt like a lil nudge, and it was a few mins before I noticed a hole in my shirt and found the cut. Hit it with peroxide 2x and anti bacterial cream. Then killed the SOB and put her on ice. She will be eaten first for what she did haha

Need to get some antibiotics as a prevention ( just in case) .pseudorabies and brucellosis are involved in some of the diceases that a wild hog could transfer to a human.

Just relax and go visit your doc.

Oh I'm relaxed. Didn't plan on doing anything, just figured it was a small battle wound. Then Someone reminded me that pigs have diseases and eat dead rotted animals that also have diseases... Guess I will stop by the urgent care clinic while I'm running errands tomorrow. Anyone else with first hand experience?

chances are you are going to be just fine...but it could get real nasty if you got a bad infection or picked up one of the bad diseases...

  you will get a tetanus shot for sure if you haven't had one in a while  .

If you haven't been bit, pocked, or cut by a hog you havent been hunting hard. Keeep it clean for sure. Your a grown man you know if you need to see a doc.

I've been cut 3 different times.... One time it was only about a half inch long and not deep at all. I didn't do anything but keep it clean..... Then ended up in the hospital a week later and they wouldn't let me go for 5 days. The other two times one was about 1 1/2 inches deep and the other was 2 inches long. Went to the hospital as soon as it happened and they let me go in an hour after stitches and aintibiotics. I would go to the doctor

Hog cuts are as nasty as they get, and they get infected real easy. 

it's much more likely to get infected than not. I went to er and they gave me massive antibiotics and I still got a infection in it after stitches were out. I was the same as you. i never worried about it. I just figured I'd get cut maybe and get a few stitches. It's much different when it happens though. It makes you realize the initial wound is the least of your worry's. hogs can carry rabbies and alot of other disease.I wont leg a hog anymore unless it anchored solid. I did alot of research when i got cut and found getting cut is much more dangerous than I even imagined.Doctor told me the best thing to do initially is scub wound with antibacterial soap and a brush and let a stiff stream of water flush out the wound for a long period of time.It hurts but could make a big difference.

I got bit loading a sow on a four wheeler. The pic is the night it happened.  Finally went to the dr 3 days later when it turned black and had dark green puss coming out of it. Took forever to heal.

Why not take the safe side and go to the doc?

I keep a few things on hand myself but decided to leave it open and let it heal inside out. It's closed now. Been using peroxide, antibacterial cream, Epsom salt, penicillin pills and plan on getting rabies shot tomorrow. It doesn't bother me, barely felt it when it happened. Hell it's just a scratch, but I sure cant take a chance on infection and be out of work with a household to support. Thanks fellas.

Betadine is much better than peroxide. Peroxide is good if that's all you have.

I am sure you will be fine as long as you flushed it out well. I generally flush all wounds out with ringers solution immediately dogs included. Staple up and start antibiotics once I get home. Flushing the wound out is the main key!

Went in today. They gave me a tetanus and some prescription antibiotic cream. Asked them about rabies and such and they said was the animal provoked into attacking or did she just charge you for no reason... Well hell yeah she was provoked!

Dont get so close to there mouth bad place to be

   just keep antibiotic ointment on it and u will be fine
