Title: 2013 powerstroke
Post by: justincorbell on June 17, 2013, 09:41:18 am
Anyone own one of the new 6.7 powerstrokes? I finally managed to get rid of the massive thorn in my side better known as a 2008 ram 3500..... The new ride will be delivered tomorrow and i'll be picking it up before i go to work tomorrow on nights, feel like a little kid waitin on christmas right now! My dad has a 2012 with over 65k and loves it so far. Anyone else running one of these and if so have any advise or info regarding any aspects of the truck i should look into? Likes dislikes etc....lets hear em!

I have driven two 6.7 f450 for the company i work for i can say they have a  hell of a lot more get up and  go compared to the 7.3, 6.0 or the 6.4. The only thing thats aggravating about the new diesels is having to put urea in the separate tank and im not sure on the 13 but the 11 & 12 doesnt have gauge to let u know if it's low it will just shut the truck down at a certain point. But other than thay really nice smooth riding trucks and dont forget to post some pics when u get it.

O and by the way im glad you got away from that olgoat and got a real truck! No just messing around goats are alright im just a ford lover i guess.

Anyone of you ford or chevy guys ever put a pencil to paper to see what it costs to drive these trucks per mile when you factor in def/urea and your fuel mileage?  I'd be interested to know what kind of mileage these fords are getting also.

my company has a hotshot service n they r having all kinds of trouble with them ( throwing rods, turbos going out, oil pumps )
even the trucks that dont pull heavy loads r breaking down

A good friend of mine owns a diesel truck performance/ mechanic shop. He steered me far away from them. He told me that a whole bunch of the 6.7's are waiting at the dealer for a new motor after the CRANK breaks. He said it has been happening at around the 100k mark so it is not covered of coarse. My boss man has one with 65k on it with no problems to date been getting about 15 mpg. Good luck ;)

Man i'll be honest, I had a 1/2 ton dodge that was perfect in every sense of the word EXCEPT it was a gas hog when pulling trailers. I stepped up into the worst truck i've ever owned...a 2008 3500 1ton, I havent been able to keep that truck out of the shop since thanksgiving for more than a couple weeks at a time..........absolute junk. Now it is fixed and running good but i have zero confidence in it and i'm looking in the near future at quite a few longer distance drives than I am comfortable taking in it. Goin to my cousins in MS next month for a wedding, 8hr drive and hunting season is right around the corner which means multiple trips to uvalde, junction and freer, all over 6hrs away from me, I just can't comfortably get into it to make one of those trips with my family.

Dang, not what I wanted to hear but thanks for the heads up regardless. My dad tows with his quite a bit and really uses his and has had zero issues so far, hopefully I will get a good one myself! My dad averages right around 15mpg's also so at least they are pretty consistant, I imagine...well I should say I hope to get a little better mileage wise due to the fact that over 90% of my daily driving is highway to and from work with almost zero city driving mixed in, well shall see!

I would agree EXCEPT the goat body isn't the problem, its the POS 6.7 motor under the hood on this one.........I know its completely backwards lol

LOL, yea I've heard quite a few negatives about the 6.0 ford motor. While I have heard negatives about the new ford 6.7 I can honestly say that i've read alot more positive than negative.........the way I look at it is that now days it doesn't matter what truck you buy there will be positives and negatives, hopefully I'll have better luck with this one than the last!

In the past decade how many times have the two diesels you guys have been talking about changed motors??? And how many times has GM changed theirs? They have led the pack for over a decade and that's coming from DIESEL POWER MAGAZINE. They were the first common rail all aluminum block diesel. JUST SAYING!!!

agreed i also think its how you treat them rigs programmers or nice but i feel like if it was supposed to run that hard that'd do it off the line thats whats wrong with my diesel hopped it up an didn't upgrade the tranny or anything an bam my goat is limpin in 1st 2nd an reverse and my buddy has an 03 4x4 dulley put a predator programmer on it an his is a 6 speed it would slip so bad after a while when he'd drive the piss out of it lol an he took the programmer off an you cant tell it ever did anything unless you can afford to really upgrade everything its just one problem leadin to another for me atleast haha

Well Good luck Justin!  There is no perfect vehicle. I had an 06 cummins 2500 and it was a total POS from the window motors, dash,& injectors. I was a major pain in my side. I am going stick with a gas. Just cost too much to fix a diesel now days.

I would put a delete kit on just as soon as i broke it in good the low sulfer diesel and emissions crap is wat messed the ford motors up in the first place

I would BUT the only reason i'm buying new is for the 100k bumper to bumper warranty, I already inquired about tuners/chips/deletes etc and I was told no flat out.......doesn't bother me much, my dodge was fully deleted, tuned etc etc and while it was stupid fast it wasn't anything spectacular OR anything that I NEED to have now......back then I was single with no one dependin on me other than me, now I've got a little one and a GF to support.......growin up sucks but if I could I still wouldn't change a thing. its all about priorities and a fasto truck ain't one of em nowdays  ;)

I feel your pain on the dodges lol... I've had a 91,99,2 02's, 07 and a 11. The only ones I could keep together is the 91 and the 02's... The rest were junk given they were welding trucks and I run the #2 out of em but with this new stroke I got its doing pretty good alot more comfortable than all the dodges

GOOD ONE!!!! But if you were buying a GM you wouldn't have to ask any of those questions, before/after the DPF, DEF's. Why because they haven't changed. You already know what you are getting. But hey guess you'll keep taking those chances. They all are a chance BUT some chances are better than others.

We will be calling you that after you get that ford. I just bought a 13 GM and wasn't close to 15 k more matter of fact it was way less, ford was the highest by far price wise, then GM then dodge. But hey what do I know I put 290,000 on my last one, and guess what I bought another one, ain't no switching brands here. BUT  I didn't have to start a thread to ask people if the truck was worth a #%^* and cross my fingers hoping I made the right decision.  Because I knew what I was getting, hence 13 years of DEPENDABILITY. Oh and the warranty thing you WILL be needing that I won't.

All is fun and well but it should make you a nice truck, THEY ALL BREAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good luck with new ride, enjoy it we pay enough no matter what brand.

Goodness I just are my supper and now on popcorn ;) all bs aside in sure it ll be good rides better for sure, IMO all diesel s lost some dependability when they came out with the ULSD and the emissions crap. To answer the question my dad has friends that love em more than hate em. And how can you beat 100k warranty? BUT what kinda truck you drivin now mr. Corbell? ;) you know I couldn't resist

Haven't heard negative about them yet sure there are a few that break but my info coming from guys that I worked with that still depend on working on fords to make a living are getting nervous about the 6.7s they are used to having ample trucks to work on with the 6.0 and 6.4 and with the 6.7s it just isn't coming in

If you do the right stuff to a 6.0 you can make that engine bullet proof. A lot of people will disagree but my neighbor had one and him and my pops did work to it and beat the dog piss out of it.

Congrats on your new truck, let me know when to wanna line up with the 5.9. Haha just messin  >:D

Just 3/4 ton 250, dont haul trailers near as much anymore. Whole reason i bought that truck originally was due to the fact that i was hauling a loaded 30' trailer for work all over the dang place, it was pretty much our rolling inspection office..... I switched companies last year and now i work 40 minutes from the house full time, just dont need a dually anymore......hell i could probly get by with a 1/2 ton just really dont wanna go back lol

Lol if the 6.7 was still rollin solid id take you up on that, it was pretty quick when it was runnin good, i hear florida is nice this time of year and I could use a vacation BUT that truck probly wouldn't make it 1/2 way lol and its gone!

Don't know this to be a fact, but........

the guys at work claim when the ford man dropped off the 3 new 450's, he was talking very highly of them except for that the manufacture rated tear down on the engine was at 150,000 :-\  I haven't dug into the facts, just hearsay...but might be worth looking into.  Another guy traded his in cuz he said the maintenance was costing him a couple hundred every oil change???

Worst thing Ford ever did was try to radical of a change when the "Diesel Wars" started, and then got pissed with International and built their own.  The verdict will be out for a long time (or maybe not) on the new Ford diesels, cuz there's still plenty of the good ol 7.3's runnin around.  I know I love mine!
