Title: How many for a pen? Post by: hansonw on June 28, 2013, 09:19:37 pm Me and a buddy got a 100 acre pen. Just trying to speed up the puppy process. I'm not a new hunter or nothing but wondering how many y'all would put in there.

Make sure and put you some that like to run! There's a pen that size in the setx area? I've been trying to find someone with a pen but am starting to consider just building a smaller one myself. I try to keep 4 in my 8 acre pen and that's about all I can afford they eat a couple bags of feed a week.

I figured a 100 acre pen could help a ton. Has thickets and hardwoods and a creek running through so they have plenty of water. Was thinking maybe 20 hogs then once I get the pups finding them narrow down to 5 hogs or so so them pups will have to work for them. Thought I was through breeding for a while but I'm going to have to have to let me another litter drop.

The more hogs you have in it, they will root all the underbrush out. Five is plenty in a 100 acres & your pups will have to hunt & use their nose to find them.
