Title: Re: hound qustion Post by: halfbreed on July 09, 2013, 01:31:41 pm well there is no special breed that runs silent on hogs , just a few dogs within the each breed . for the most part the plott dogs produce the most silent runners . but it weren't too many years ago a plot was a cur dog . the leopard hounds as well have some silent dogs they are still closer to curs than hounds . if you are looking for a good silent hound I would look into those breeds . BUT and it's a big but I have seen some hounds that would silent trail a hog till jumped and not give mouth till then , these same hounds were open on other game such as coon or deer . keep in touch with the coon hunters they often have a good dog that to them is a cull for being tight mouthed the ukc coon hunting boards are a good place to look for such a dog .
