Title: 500 pound hogs
Post by: T-Bob Parker on July 21, 2013, 07:32:45 pm
Schools out and I've heard of 20 or 30 500 pound hogs getting caught since may.

Anybody got any pictures of a real 500 pounder on a scale here lately?

Every hog is 400 lbs and now 500 lbs til they get scaled and then the embarrassment starts when it turns out to be a 190 lb hog  :D

Oh yeah I caught 3 of them the other day at the same time. I was by myself and with 4 dogs on leads I didn't know how I was gonna get them out. Then it dawned on me I had my trusty duck para cord lanyard in my pocket so I just hooked em up and threw them over my shoulder and started the little 15 mile stroll to the wheeler. I did this in AR I figure y'all would get at least a 800 pounder a week in Texas.

Man, so they're all over the place!!! Just as I suspected!

I'm not saying there's no such a animal, but I sure would love to see one with a scale pic. That's all I'm sayin.

Down in Texas you have to turn them 500 pound hogs loose until their old enough to take them of their momma. Lol

Had a coyote hunter tell me about a 700 pounder nearly as long as his truck that hangs out on the property we were hunting.  Sure wish we could have got on him that day since we were hunting Monty's tournament at the time lol

All the folks catching the 500 pounders could guess a chickens weight and miss him 40 pounds. When my son catches a hog and calls to tell me about it, I can take 100 pounds off the weight and 2 inches off the teeth and have him preety close.

a old man over here near shreveport killed a boar hog a couple years ago that
weighed 419lbs after he was gutted, tore up two of his dogs. we caught a boar hog that had a broken snout
two years ago 300+ of bone but he still looked big with the teeth when we were running up on him.
big hogs are hard to come by.

Ben, that's right. That I believe is the one Jesse Pual said tipped the scale before his head was off the ground.
I made a post called "I need proof" a while back. It has some straight up heifers in it, but that one of Jesse Paul's is still probably the only one at or very very near 500 pounds. That's my whole point.

It's been years since and I haven't seen another yet, meaning they can exist, but there's not exactly one in every county.

This right here is the closest thing to a true monster that I've ever put my hands on. Me and Josh Heffernan caught it with a few curs too, no bulldog, just a ol catahoula bitch who is truly bad to the bone.

Josh is a big ol fella. And the hog still come out looking big.
This boar had a head and neck and chest girth that looked prehistoric in person and his ol corn fed belly was spread about 3 foot laying in that position we have kicked ourselves ever since for not running him to halletsville, but hey, too much whiskey and yellow lines don't mix.

As big as he was, our guess is 400. Maybe more but we ain't given to dramatics.

I can tell you this too, when we cut his head off, we dragged it by a lead rope out of the corn. We even joked that his head was bigger than what wed been catching lately.

Which pic you talking about podna? The one I posted josh is holding its ears? He's a big ol boy but I don't think his arms are 3-4 yards long? Lol  :D

I have put 3 I know of in pig heaven at 270+. The biggest boar was this one but didn't have a scale to weigh. (http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/07/24/any6y7a9.jpg)
That is a big bear 4 wheeler in front and a 16' utility trailer he is laying on.

This is the sow in my profile pic. I gave her to a friend of mine and asked him to let me know what she weighed. He carried her to a local butcher and texted me a weight of 380. She was huge although it is hard to tell by the pic. It took 3 grown men to load it and I ain't no Lil guy.

Those 2 are my biggest hogs.

I been hunting hogs since the early 1980's and we have caught some at 330 to 350 pounds and 200 pounders on a regular basis through my best years...

I have heard of 2 big hogs seen on a regular basis, one in Karnes City and one in Bloomington and both not too far from Victoria, Texas... and...I saw one that must of weighed at least 700 pounds maybe more come out of a maize field and he just reminded me of a rhino running out of that field...he was solid red and thick yet not a fat hog...probably between 7-8 foot long...he was running crouched down because he knew he was to tall to run around in the weeds...that is what I saw...3 other guys were hunting with me and they saw the same hog and they didn't think any thing about it...I was in awe and had to walk back and look for the tracks and his tracks were like those of a 800 pound steer...if I had seen those tracks without seeing the hog I would have thought it was a steer track...this was at the O'Connor ranch outside Victoria...So I will say one day someone will kill one of that size in that part of the country...but I don't think it will be with dogs and it will be in a remote place and probably at night time...

In Brazoria county I have seen some big tracks and sometimes in places where I least expected to see these hog tracks but sometimes the big boars hang out in such places to stay away from the dogs...but those large tracks have been less than half of the size of tracks I saw at the O'Connor ranch...this is no doubt in my mind that they are there because I saw one...

There's no way of knowing, I'm not doubting you Butcher, but since I don't know how big that fella or that dog is.

The hog pictured below, me and my good buddy josh caught a while back and though he was a flipping beast, we loaded him just the two of us. We're pretty hefty ol boys, but I don't know that we coulda loaded much more than 350 to 400 just the 2 of us.
Didn't bother weighing him but figured around 300. That's a full size truck btw and some other fella caught a WWT SCORING boar the same night and I believe the body on this one was longer according to scaling by the tailgate.

These are biggest Ive seen personally.. So far. We've been lucky and  caught three 400's in last 3 years... I doubt we'll ever top this stretch.

"Ghost hog" no weight. First hog hunt in which we caught hogs  on. I feel like he was in the category of theses other 400#'s.. All four of us could barely move that hog he was so big. Good buddy's Marshall Willey's dogs did everything on this one. We just took a bunch if pictures and kicked him back loose to catch again. Wish we could have mounted this hog, been chasing one ever since not knowing what we had caught
