Set up in a spot where you can see for a ways down wind and up wind both. Sometimes they will circle around so they're down wind and try to smell ya before they come in. But be ready before you start bangin the horns together cus you usually don't hav much time to check the deer out!

Title: Re: deer calls Post by: charles on September 24, 2013, 12:38:04 am Iv had great success with the buck roar and "the can" by primos. I took 3 buck and 11 doe in kansas using the combo. I had both buck n doe come in using them. Nvr had any luck using ratlers, probably cuz i suck at them i guess. But as said before, downwind is critical, cover scents work, so use them. I used both buck n doe urine at the same time, along with coon urine on a drag rag and reapplied if i had more than a 1/4 mile walk, which was nearly 95% of the time. Using a squirrel call works also to make it seem normal in the woods.

Title: Re: deer calls Post by: Easttex91 on October 03, 2013, 01:26:38 pm I've been using the primos can hitting it about once an hour no luck so far
Title: Re: deer calls Post by: charles on October 03, 2013, 08:08:04 pm I've been using the primos can hitting it about once an hour no luck so far 3 turns on the on can bout 5-10sec apart, wait 15-20 min and hit it again another 3 times, wait bout 5 min and hit it again 3 times, throw in a couple grunts,, then a long deep grunt n if u have the buck roar, throw in a snort n wheeze after the deep grunt. if there is a buck in full rut n u got the correct doe-n-heat scent in the area, he'll come easing in to find that piece of tail that's in season n find the intrusive buck in the area. 3 bucks in 2 months in different parts of Kansas cant be an accident, especially since I passed on 5-6 other bucks that just weren't what I was looking for in horns. Title: Re: deer calls Post by: charles on October 04, 2013, 06:25:09 pm if u buy the buck roar n the can, watch the lil dvd they send with it or google a youtube vid of it n practice till u get the hang if it good. usin the grunt call will run both buck n doe off if it don't sound right to them. they know its outa place n will run away or not come around. I grunted 1 in to within 40yds, took my shot, hit a twig I didn't see through my sights, lost the arrow, the buck hurried into the thick brush, walked behind me, (I cold still see him, but no shot) got out bout 200yds n continued walkin away n I turned him n called him to with in 60yds, but he had the high ground and could see that there was no doe nor buck in the area n turned and walked off. Iv used it in north tx and it worked there too. if I was close enough to ya, id come over there n we could practice
