Title: Victor feed....NOT corn free! False advertising....
Post by: MrsLouisianaHogDog on September 11, 2013, 11:09:51 pm
SO my husband has been feeding Victor feed, the red bag. Says "NO corn..." on the front, and back of the bag. Corn is not listed in the ingredients list. Low and behold, we have kibbles saved here, from two different bags, that clearly have pieces of corn in them. He's gonna write them a letter and make a phone call. I was wondering if anyone else here that feeds Victor, which is advertised as "Corn free," has found corn in their feed?

Not the end of the world, but we are particular about what we feed our dogs, and I expect the ingredients to be what they are labeled as.

When I first started feeding victor red bag I didnt have to feed much and my dogs looked great and performed even better.
After a few months I couldnt keep weight on and dogs didnt perform as well.
idk if that had anything to do with it but I no longer feed it.

Victor was a great feed when it came out. I fed it for two years and it went to pure crap... switched back to old faithful Sportsmix.

well I would have it investigated  but  sometimes they don't  CLAEN  the milss properly and you will get a cross over of ingrediants  . it's kind of like opening a can of sweet peas and finding a kernel of corn in it  . but I have never fed victor since the scare a few years ago of that bacterial infection assc. with the feed that was causing gyps to loose their litters .

I hear about sport mix alot and caliber I think it is. My feed store don't carry either of those so I use star pro premium high energy and it works real good. I give em the same amount each day and they look good. Honestly I'm not sure if it has corn in it or not, looks like it does. Is there a reason not to feed them food with corn? I'm still learning all this stuff

I traded for some star pro dog food and it seems to agree with the dogs that are getting fed it for the most part. my pups will eat it good for a couple days n then nibble at it for the nxt few days n then back to scarfing it down. the star pro does have corn in it, or at least the bag says it does

I agree with halfbreed a lot of people worry about corn content I really don't. I believe you can feed any name brand dog and they will do fine some dogs will do better on some than others but the key is to keep them parasite free!! The ones that don't like corn don't like using the water hose to clean pens!!! LOL

I can notice a difference when I feed my dogs certain things. They do really well on blue buffalo/ raw feed.

I was hearing all of these great things about the Victor feed so I tried it. I have been using it for a month and I am not impressed at all. Going back to black Sportsmix.

I would not use sport-mix if I was running a kennel raiseing pups. I fed thise feed for two yrs started breeding my finished out females some had no pups some only had   just a few pups my dogs looked healthy. so I took my stud dogs to the vet had all of them seman and parasite tested thsy were low on seaman but other ok. told vet to pull blood on some males and brood bitches and send to Tx A & M .    MY TEST RESULTS WERE DUMP THAT FEED IT DOSE NOT HAVE WHAT YOU NEED TO BREED AND   RAISE PUPS ON .    CHANGED - Feed I am at thise time feeding star pro 24/20 all litters are large and healthy and bitches milk like hounds. but the price will go up like  others im sure.

hell that's why I quit star-pro they increased the price every month  . lol  but when I was feeding black bag sports mix , I never had any breeding and whelping products , but I did finally quit it over the consistency between each lot . it got to where it was like switching feeds every other month .

It helps a lot to buy from feed stores that have high turn around rates on food coming in and out and a lot fresher products
