Title: Good weekend of Runnin some Jugs 1-48lber and 2-30lbers Post by: BigNoseKate on September 15, 2013, 07:18:55 pm We had one helluva weekend runnin jugs with good friends, big catfish and cold beer. Have grown up fishing the Nueces River and have never had this big of a haul in one night. :) It sure was something special and I can't wait to do it again! We had 21 quart bags full of catfish filets when all was said and done. YUUuuuUUuuuUUuMM!!
A few pics of my Papa. He was my hero, and a man of the river. Such a cool feeling to finally catch catfish comparable in size to so many old pictures I have grown up gawking at of his big catches. It's too bad that he wasn't here for us to show him our fish we brought home like I always have, but I know he was looking down this weekend with a big ol grin. You know, I was kinda trying to get our friends set up for a weekend of not catching much because the Nueces river is SO low right now. The night that we caught these fish was after one hellacious rain storm that lasted a couple of hours. Maybe we hit it just right?? I'm not so sure... I will say, however, we chased a noodle the night after we caught these three for a ways down the river, stayed under a LONG time. If it was a catfish, would've been bigger than any of the three we caught the night before. When we went to grab the noodle, the damn knot just slipped out... easy as pie. ??? ??? ??? ??? You can imagine we sat there and drank a few cussin each other and the bad luck for a good while... Oh well, part of it, right?? As far as noodling, man I don't have the juevos to!!!! Hahaha!! But have really never had the opportunity to go... COuld be a different story once actually put in the situation!! I think it's neat as hell to watch! That's for sure! Our buddy tried on the Nueces, but he didn't catch anything. I got some cool pictures of him trying!
