EAST TEXAS HOG DOGGERS FORUM

I recently bought a dog from a guy and he said that he is full catahoula. Now I dont have much experiance with these dogs, except my wifes cat and she is about 55-60lbs. My only problem is the dog is more like 40-45lbs and he is 3yrs old. I was just wondering if different bloodlines of the cat are bigger/smaller dogs, or if this dog is some kind of cross?

They  come in different sizes some like breeding the bigger ones some rather raise smaller ones.

I figured thats what it was just wanted a little bit of confromation.

They definitely vary in size and build for sure.

Every different line of dogs will randomly produce some that are a little smaller or a little larger than most other dogs in those lines.  Each liter will also produce a difference; thus there are usually "runts" or smaller dogs in each liter.  I actually prefer the smaller dog in each liter.  About 9 years ago I bought a runt Catahoula out of a very respected registered line of catahoulas.  This little runt was the last dog in the liter to be sold because she was small and didn't have the glass eyes and leopard coloring that everyone else wanted.  When I found out she was the runt and was black and tan, I said send her to me.  She is now my favorite dog; she goes 35-38 lbs.  I certainly would not worry about a male that was 45 lbs.

Mine are tall,  long legged with bug block heads.
