Title: dog killer Post by: colecross on November 24, 2013, 07:06:30 pm Iam tell a lil story bout a hog i chased bayed but never caught,he killed 3 my dogs in 3 yrs,and cut a bunch,it was a game to this hog,he jumped with in 500 yrds of the first strike evertime he always crossed the bayou ,and would run a mile straght, then to the nastiest brair thicket in ark. He would bay long enough to rest then run,put 20 miles on a garmin,at first he would always go were other hogs were.we would bay and catch but not him, then he started working on dogs and my wouldrun a mile but fight you tooth andnail,i tryed loose dogs, gritty and rough dogs,he would cut them all up.for 3 yrs this went bk and forth,i loved to bay him,man them young dogs would turn on he killed some cut a many, but the ones that made it they learned from that ole boar, and as grandaddy would say a blind hog finds a acorn some times.my daughter and i load up bout ten one morning it had rained all nite,so i knew i could find his track,i had 2 dogs that i had never tryed on him, nutty and missy ,i found his track not long after we started down side a corn field,i casted dogs took track went 500 yrds and set down,i new it was him wen i heard nutty open,my daughter and i got the wind in our face and went to him, this is the only time i think i could of caught him if i had my bulldogs,we got mybe 20 yrds,my daughter gets behind me this boar is load and ever time he goes for a dog the other one would bite him in the nuts,a site to see,we watched for a lil bit,i yelled at dogs to get bk i shkt him in the side,he takes off goes 200 yds through the woods and bays bk up in front of

You know its amazing to me how you will be talking to someone about something out of the normal and then turn around and read it are hear it somewhere a day or two after. Just the other day me and a very good ole guy i hunt with was talking and he said, you know I've bought many many many dogs trying to find something like what my old dogs where that i let get away from me, but none of them have made it back from the woods with me. But i tell you what these puppies that you and Kurt are raising showed me something the other day that reminded me of my old dogs, he said they fade each other, i said what do you mean, he said when that hog will start to run after one of the pups then the opposite one will try to swallow that hogs a#=. Sorry about the long speech wasnt trying to hijack your thread, just when i read what you said i had to add that in.

Congrats on the hog... I'm guessing the dogs were loose baying but would stop him when they needed to? Title: Re: dog killer Post by: colecross on November 25, 2013, 10:06:59 am Ole nutty isnt pretty thats for sure,he gets the job done, bowhunter yes they are loose baying wen need to but will catch if need to,just smart dogs, have hunted together along time, nutty is a nut dog,if it has them he wonts to eat them, everytime he is with me,and i cut a boar,i feed him the nuts.

Title: Re: dog killer Post by: Reuben on November 28, 2013, 07:44:25 am Sounds like a pretty good plott to me but I might be prejudice.lol Good hunt. x2...In my minds eye I see a pretty good dog that can do it alone...goes out finds the hog and sticks with the track...swims the river and stops the hog and stays bayed for a good while till someone shows up...then he sees the help arrive and with a little encouragement catches a nice boar hog...the only thing different I would have done is told the dog to back up and I would have shot that hog...that's a hog dog right there... but no matter...good hunt and good dogs... Title: Re: dog killer Post by: Sean on November 28, 2013, 11:47:58 am Hell of a hog! very nice, congrats!
