Is the snipe hunting story a prank ur son was trying to pull on u? Iv been told when i was young of goin snipe hunting n using a burlap sack and illuminating the back of the sack to attract the the snipe n cause him to fly into the sack n gettin caught, but when i got older, i was told it was a prank/joke. Is this the case myles?
Title: Re: Snipe Hunting! Post by: YELLOWBLACKMASK on November 30, 2013, 08:56:04 pm Yes Charles. Its a prank that your buddies usually play on youngsters or city folk.
They put ya out there on cold cold nights with a sack and a dim light. Usually tell ya they are gonna go around on the backside of a thicket and push some your way. In the meantime ......everyone thats in on the joke heads back to the warm fire and indulge in your favorite coke a cola and good laughs. >:D Title: Re: Snipe Hunting! Post by: Mike on December 01, 2013, 05:17:29 pm Woodcock, timber doodle, brush snipe... they have several nicknames and they're good eatin'!
Title: Re: Snipe Hunting! Post by: charles on December 01, 2013, 05:37:53 pm ok, so it is a snipe by nickname. I looked up both the woodcock and the snipe and they are 2 different birds, but iv always heard the bird in the pic called a snipe, but its actually a woodcock according to Wikipedia
Title: Re: Snipe Hunting! Post by: YELLOWBLACKMASK on December 01, 2013, 05:48:08 pm Woodcock is type of bird via Webster.
Have only heard them called by the names Mike listed above my whole life. After a case of cold Dr.Pepper and freezing your rear off for couple hrs waiting on your buddies to flush a few your way...... You may want to call them something else. Haha.
