Title: Light weight dog boxes Post by: Deepforkhogger on December 31, 2013, 07:19:00 am Looking to build a new dog box, wanting something that I can load by my self, use in the winter and can hold a couple dogs on each side . If y'all could help me out and post some pics of wat y'all got I would appreciate it! Thanks!!!

Title: Re: Light weight dog boxes Post by: halfbreed on December 31, 2013, 09:11:53 am i'll get you some pictures of mine in a bit . it's 4x4 wide and 3 tall I made it out of commercial square a/c duct some 30 odd years ago . it has been the best box I have ever owned and has hauled coon hounds beagles , labs and you name it lol . it might weigh 50 pounds and is strong enough to rig dogs off the top or to support my 195 pound behind as of late lol . if you know some one in the commercial a/c buisness it wouldn't cost you very much to have one banged together .

Set side by side then run a large rubber strap across the front top and another behind them. You can haul a couple medium size dogs on each side super light weight and easy to handle. Not anything fancy but very functional.

Title: Re: Light weight dog boxes Post by: halfbreed on December 31, 2013, 10:30:15 am the good thing about this a/c duct is that if you know a good duct man with a tin break and spot welder you can make them any size you want and they last a long time as said I've seen these shiney factory made boxes that were pure junk after a few years .
