Title: Kennel Cough Symptoms.
Post by: Hutch33 on January 20, 2014, 11:51:55 am
Do any of you have any remedies or advice on kennel cough like symptoms?
I have a message in to our vet, and have been told honey helps. Not positive it’s kennel cough or a respiratory issue.
Looking to get any feedback that yall may have.  Thanks.

I thought a pup of mine had kennel cough.  Took it to the vet and it ended up having pnemonia.  Antibiotic and a steriod  he was good to go in a few weeks .   He was hacking, weezing had a rasp in his breathing sound like he had flim in his throat tall the time.   Cost about $100 for the meds i think.

Hope it helps

What symptoms are you seeing?

If there's coughing, it can very well be kennel cough (most common), but coughing can also be a symptom of cardiac issues such as heartworms or cardiomyopathy, etc.

For kennel cough, standard protocol usually is 14 days worth of antibiotics, usually Keflex/Cephalexin or Clavamox. Clavamox is my personal preference for this. If kennel cough is untreated, it can lead to pneumonia.
