Well ladies and gentlemen ole parvo has hit and hit us pretty hard ,have had 2 die and two real sick . Did the shots and wormed as usual but just a bad strain. The pups are 10 weeks and all was great Sunday and now this . Y'all keep an eye on the pups

Sucks. Sorry to hear that. I have a three month old pup. Vaccined and everything. Taking all precautions against parvo.

sorry about your dogs and pups...which vaccines did you use and where did you buy them?

Positive it's parvo? Sounds a little fast to me.
I'm REAL careful about coccidiosis now days. It killed a well bred pup (bout 12 weeks) in just a few days and took my two best dogs (kenneled next to pup) down fast but I was able to save them.

If your really concerned.....1 cc of Cordid in the mouth of every adult dog. For the pups I'm not sure about the oral dose but you'll want to add it to their drinking water (adults as well), 1 cc per gallon.

Reuben I used the 5 n 1 and the 7 n 1 from t.s.c. And wormed them as usual but was recently told that tractor supply or a lot of feed stores let the shots get warm before they refrigerate and it makes the shot useless.
 Kevin I took one pup to the vet who I have become friends with and they tested for it . She says it's the worst she's seen in a while down this way

 well that sucks , but you did the right thing by taking one to the vet to make sure what you are fighting there are many problems that mimick the parvo  symptoms . what course of actions are you taking now to fight it ? 

Dont know if it will work for pups, and not too sure I'd do it...but, I've talked to a couple of old timers about parvo.  They said bleach will kill it, in a last resort effort.  The one said he was sceptical, and had and older dog get it.  Got to where it was either go ahead and put the dog down or try the bleach.  Claims he filled a syringe and squirted right down the dogs throat and in a day or two the old dog was back on his feet and doing good???
Also heard something about 3cc half bleach half water under skin???

Anyone tried this?

Nvr tried strait bleach down the throat or 50/50 under the skin, but i wipe the pup n spray kennel down with 80/20 bleach water after every bowel movement or vomiting. I also got a constant supply of iv bags for under the skin hydration.

Not hijacking, but under the same lines. I had a pup that in 2.5 days died from something. Sat, he was doin great n had plenty of energy. Sat eavning he didnt eat much, all day sun i watched him pull down to skin n bones, didnt eat that night. I blended up vienna sausages n sardines, a lil honey for flavoring n yogart. Injected it down his throat n pepto for nausea. Took him to vet mon, he took 500ml of iv, got sone kind of anti-nausea meds. Fed him a couple times n give him another 300ml of iv fluid. He pee'd once, was acting a lot better n held down the food. Sometime mon night/tue morning at 6:30 he died. Test was neg for parvo. Any thoughts as to what could gav pulled him down n killed him in 3 days?

I'm doing the same with IV bags and antibiotics ( my girl is a rn so we have a pharmacy ) even a bit of ivomeck on the other pups .

the shots from tractor supply are garbage. I know alot of people that have got screwed by there shots. There was a study done on how some tractor supply shipments of parvo shots didnt stay inside the temp. ranges that they were suppose to so that meant that the shots did not do anything for preventing parvo. Look into ordering online at dr foster and smith. If you buy in bulk its even cheaper than tractor supply for the really good stuff. the 7 in 1 from TSC does not have the coronavirus antibodies in it and it is very hard for the vet to tell the difference from coronavirus and parvovirus...to me the 7 in 1 is a waste of time and money just for that reason...if the 5 in 1 has corona then you should have been covered for the corona but I would do some checking to make sure it did...

the 8 in 1 is quite a bit more money but very well worth the price...

it is possible that TSC does not take care of the vaccines like they should because it is mostly youngsters that work there and they probably don't have the ownership as a mom and pop feed store operation would...

  yep if your gonna give your own shots the smaller mom and pop feed stores are the only way to go .

  one of the best products I use for any of the parvo like symptoms is the re-sorb for scouring calves given sub-q it has glucose as well as vitamins and electrolites that really help dogs bounce back . that with an anti-biotic regiment and pro-biotics .

Thank y'all , yea I was never a big tractor supply guy until I came out here always had my local co-op in Florida with no problems . But ya get in the big chains and don't know what ya get . On another note, the one is starting to show some life to her and getting back to taking a lil food

There is a new strain out that kills bad and it takes a lot to save one! I lost 2308 dollars in walker pups between vet bills and lost of profits.

I only got one to live out of the litter vet said nothing really was able to be done. Move them a 100 yards and he said it should help.

7m did the pups have diarrhea and a clear jelly substance in their poop?

if its got clear jelly in the poop, that's a real good sign of coccidious (spelling). its a very contagious bacteria. one of my pups had it about a year ago and barely saved it. they actually die from being so dehydrated. if its not addressed in the very first stages, then more than likely its too late. id quantine all dogs/pups in the same pen or in the pen next to the dogs infected. bleach all the kennels and dig up all the dirt around the pens and get rid of it. im not a vet but this is what my vet told me and it worked. Woody i had them tested for everything and came back parvo out vet said its a new strein.

just now seen this, but im glad they are still kickin, i hope they get back to full health!

Thanks woody , I got em on concrete now and still trying to finish up my kennels by so far so good on the pups.
