Title: Cold Hunt
Post by: txsteve85 on January 24, 2014, 04:31:25 am
Called up Fonzie and said lets hunt tonight of course he was down. Called a few more buddies to see if they wanted to join the party and they all said its gonna be too cold and too windy. So me, fonzie and high school buddy(first timer) head out and start the hunt around  11pm.
It was cold but suprizingly the wind  was not that bad and it was in our favor with the dogs on the hood. After about 15 mins of hooding I ease up to a pond and grit, sister and buster blow off the truck.
They head past the pond 160 yards and grit opens up, pig  starts running as usual and they bay up around 350 yards. We start heading towards the bay and the pig is walking them 400,450,530. We manage to get within 280 and fonzie cuts peanut. They caught out and its a slow race to the bay through the thicket. Dogs and a 215lb boar are exhausted when we find them in a dry creek caught, Fonzie flips him and we put the steel on him. We came out okay with just cd taking a good cut.
After all that we notice the boar has a empty sack, so we got our first barr. Wish we could have got him a yr from now. Fun cold hunt with some good buds.
