Title: Stop Bleeding with Vitamin K1 Post by: Caughtandhobbled on August 25, 2009, 05:08:29 pm Yesterday I was in the local vet office and I was telling him about our dog doctering from this past weekend. He gave me some Vitamin K1, it does not need to be kept cool so it can be stored in your 1st aid kit in your vehicle. The shot in given in the muscle @ 1ml per 22lbs of body weight. He claims this will start clotting very fast and claims there are no side effects when given in the muscle. HE DID SAY IF GIVEN IN THE VEIN IT WILL SHUTDOWN THE LIVER...
I read online that making a paste from cheyenne pepper and clean water will stop bleeding very fast. I have never tried this one but I may on a small wound on a dog I do not like, seems to me it would burn bad :o :o :o DISCLAIMER: I am nothing more than a first responder (ERT) and I have never been to vet school. The Vet has never given me bad advice before. It does help the bleeding on those steers, i would think it would help on a dog as well.
