Title: Boudreaux's light came on! Post by: Mike on February 18, 2014, 09:37:21 pm Well, my black catch dog finally figured out he was a bay dog today... finally!!! Deon met me after work for a quick hunt. I put Boudreaux and Copper down and they each went different directions. Boudreaux had trailed out about 500 yards when Copper came around and took the same track. Boudreaux circled a few times and caught another gear. A few minutes later he showed bayed on the Garmin at over 800 yards, Copper made it and showed bayed also. We finally got around closer to them and I heard them both in there hammering. We eased in there and they were circling a palmetto patch, I hissed to them, they dove in and went to singing to him! Sent Millie in and caught a nice boar.
Y'all just don't know how much that made my day having Boudreaux finally set back and bay one! Title: Re: Boudreaux's light came on! Post by: justincorbell on February 19, 2014, 09:22:59 am Glad he stepped up to your expectations, I'm assuming he was pretty much catching out before? .......i've got one like that right now, I hope he decides to start backing up or he may not be much longer for this world........
Title: Re: Boudreaux's light came on! Post by: hoghunter71409 on February 19, 2014, 10:04:43 am That is a good story and I bet you were glad to hear two dogs barking.
Title: Re: Boudreaux's light came on! Post by: Mike on February 19, 2014, 12:17:29 pm Thanks y'all! I've got a lot riding on him and his sister as far as my dogs go since losing Tweety and Hunter. Plus the other older, related dogs being gone... kinda throws a ringer in the breeding program.
Yeah Justin, he's caught or tried to catch everything so far. I purposely haven't hunted him like a should because of it. He's shown me from the very beginning that he has all the hunt and bottom I'm looking for... just not the bay. ;D But, from the few dogs in this line that started rough like him, they usually out grew it around two years old. Title: Re: Boudreaux's light came on! Post by: Whistler on February 19, 2014, 12:20:08 pm Glad he is doing what you want him to. I have to say from all the pics I have seen on here of that line of dogs they all seem to be put together really nice.
Title: Re: Boudreaux's light came on! Post by: TShelly on February 19, 2014, 01:30:42 pm Pretty cool mike. Been following him for a long time now. I'm glad he is finally coming around and barking a little more. Keep us posted

Well im sure glad he decided to back up as opposed to being forced to back up, im afraid this one over here is gonna take a real whoopin before he decides to back up and wait on a bulldog but its hard to bitch n moan when he is doin the best he can. Glad to see him filling your expectations. Title: Re: Boudreaux's light came on! Post by: Bowhunter1994 on February 19, 2014, 03:37:08 pm Awesome buddy , glad it clicked! It took my 11 pound jack Russell 1.5 years so he would stop catching. He caught a 150# sow by himself...
It's a good feeling knowing they won't get themselves killed catching a big Barr!!! Sonny Title: Re: Boudreaux's light came on! Post by: Mpbarrs on February 19, 2014, 07:22:52 pm great job fellas

Title: Re: Boudreaux's light came on! Post by: Cajun on February 21, 2014, 06:16:42 am Great looking dog. I have a couple here that I need to start hunting by their self & hope they bay. They have been straight catch so far. If they dont learn they will run into the wrong hog sooner then later. Nice hunt.
