Title: Re: Help!!! Post by: hillbilly on August 31, 2009, 07:59:27 pm Just part of the hunt. I got older dogs that can't even shut them down sometimes, especially in tall weeds. If they are after shoats its even worse.
Title: Re: Help!!! Post by: W-tate on August 31, 2009, 08:05:51 pm I hope it's just them damn careless weeds messin with there noses. Cause they bay good in a pen. Will get a littel rough
Title: Re: Help!!! Post by: Mike on August 31, 2009, 08:06:48 pm Join the club... if it were that easy there wouldn't be anymore hogs left! ;)
Rough, loose, young, old, 1 dog, 20 dogs... been there done that. Just hunt the way you enjoy to hunt and catch what you can. Title: Re: Help!!! Post by: HogzgoneWild on August 31, 2009, 08:17:17 pm Amen, just the perks of hogdoggin ;), I'm sure we've all had our share of runners and not bein able to get em' shut down..Mostly everytime I go we get burned by at least one, they usually will figure it out on there own or just get mad enough where once close enough they will just grab hold...

Title: Re: Help!!! Post by: W-tate on August 31, 2009, 08:48:16 pm The first spot we hit they took off. Struck two. In the careless weeds u can barley walk threw and my three went one way my buddys dog went on the other one they stayed on that one prolly a mile maybe a littel over I think they had it bayed a littel while but I lost my pistol in the damn weeds. Holster broke. When I found them my cat had some blood in his mouth. Second tine the flat out got smoked. It was thick but there strikin hogs I am proud and not trashin on deer cause we seen some. So cuss I should be postive
Title: Re: Help!!! Post by: wcg89 on August 31, 2009, 09:12:55 pm Yeah man both times I felt like we let the dogs down in not getting there fast enough, but it's hard when the hog is running them in a big circle around you!! Can't blame the dogs they did their job, just need a fast dog that will hang on his nuts til he turns around ;D

Title: Re: Help!!! Post by: raider54 on August 31, 2009, 11:15:40 pm That happens to everybody sometimes, just keep huntin them young dogs
Title: Re: Help!!! Post by: ards77656 on September 01, 2009, 08:02:25 am Like everyone else has said, it happens. My father in law went hunting this weekend and had to go through 2 different hunting clubs to get our dogs back. The hog just would not stop.
One thing we do sometimes though is to run an older more experienced dog with your young group. That way they might pick up on what the older dog is doing. Some time it works and sometimes it dont. Best of luck and keep on hunting. Title: Re: Help!!! Post by: txboardog on September 01, 2009, 09:57:59 am We ran some in a tall patch of sudan a couple nights ago and every time they would get one stopped we would let them settle in on a bay and then send the catchdogs in and the hogs would break when they would get about ten yards from them that stuff was so thick when the bulldogs would plow through there all the noise kept making them break. We ran them round and round that dang field and never got one caught. We got our butts handed to us for the first time in a while. I guess I need to teach my catchdog to tippi toe so he can sneak up on them.
Title: Re: Help!!! Post by: W-tate on September 01, 2009, 10:02:10 am I think I gonna teach my dogs to run a shreder or weedeater
