I beat on my truck & I have never had a problem with my engine. I went through stock trans 3 or 4 times. But after you beef up the trans you are good to go. My truck is an 06

BUT who has had the same size engine with nothing but head of the pack reviews from Diesel Power Magazine for the last 14 years!!!! Check for yours self!!!! Same size motor pre/post emissions says enough for me!!!

older-cummins newer-duramax but ive seen alot of duramax and cummins drivers this past yr getting the new power strokes i run a fencing supply store for Oklahoma Steel & Wire and more people come in with power strokes Title: Re: Cummins or Duramax? Post by: S_J_KENNELS on March 23, 2014, 08:00:12 am 5.9 cummins wished I would have kept mine. To me until you cut off all the emissions BS the 6.7 is crap. Once it is cut off you still can't beat it. I have had a lot of friends with duramax and hotshot with them that got rid of them within a few months to a year or so and have all got either a dodge or ford. They all say the duramax would not hold up for them. If I get another truck and don't want to have to cut off the emissions crap on dodges I am going ford (even though I can't stand them). If I decide to go with the Dodge again and they still have the emissions crap on them warranty be damned I am going strait to a performance shop and cutting the crap off.

Sold our last one that was a 3/4 ton guy has 400000 mile on it and is still going strong just upgraded and got us a 2013 1 ton! No problems had a 3/4 ford and was nothing but problems! When we pull out horse trailer we need power. We borrowed a friends dodge to try it out while our truck was sold and it took all the dodge had to the floor to pull the trailer up a hill

My only hang up with my truck is I had to get tranny rebuilt at 125k.... Allison transmission is hard to beat but I'm just a cummins guy. I've pulled everything without a worry.

2003 with ~325k miles (https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc3/t31.0-8/1025817_10151466890587407_1725713106_o.jpg) My newest additions are a his/hers pair of 2014 F350, the old cummins has these beat in the MPG dept., and turning radius is better in the Dodge. Other than that, these trucks are a pleasure to drive, and will tow my big trailers better than my turned up cummins. My response was that I'm a good truck guy. Some years it's dodge, some years it's ford or chevy. I feel the same about dogs. I don't care what breed or.color, I like good dogs. |
