I just noticed this weekend while hunting with two pitts but why do they cut their ears?  Is it so they dont get in the way fighting?  That is the only reason I could think of.  Im just curious...I know there must be some type of reason.

Looks and looks alone....many of your old, historical fighting dogs ears were not cut or trimmed.

it's called croping , i do it to make them look more uniformed and some of these dogs were show dogs . not all of my dogs are croped  . Major has been in 2 Apbt shows , one in Laffayette and one in Houston . lol he didn't do so good , so i put him to work as a catch dog . none of my dogs are fought or bred for any illegal purposes , hell none of them are dog or human aggerssive .   Thanks , JUG

i understand . and thanks . no i haven't been back to another show after he didn't make the stand in Houston , the dogs that did were pot belly and short i think it was more of a bully show , to much money for nothing IMO .. been needing to go to the Cajun Kennel Club show , but never got time .the only reason for calling them Amerrican Boar Terriers , is we are tring to get away from the "Pit Bull's" bad rap . we are in the progress of starting a Registery for American Boar Terriers and American Bay Dogs . we have a few Breeders of great bay/strike dogs for ex. Mr.Parker, Mr.Wager and the Ugly Dog Ranch are a few i know of ....... , but no one is trying to make the perfect CD !! we are just raising the bar on CD's IMO.                                                                       thanks for the ?s guy , JUG

all the dog that i've posted are al in 4 gen.pedigree ..and are all Purple Ribon in the UKC . as a matter of fact all dogs in his Pedigree except for his Dams bottom side are Purple Ribon . now all Purple Ribon stands for is the UKC can track the dogs back to when they came in to the country from over seas.

I think they crop the ears because if an ear gets even a tiny cut it bleeds like hell and if you put something on it they just shake their head and it makes the ear bleed more from the ear flopping, when you crop the ears it fixes this problem. Just kinda what i have figured out from experience with my dogos. Sometimes I wish their ears were cropped, but i dont like the way it looks.

I didnt because i didnt really like the look, but i have had little cuts that the supper glue comes off and they bleed for a week because the dog keeps shaking his head. I got some new super glue that is surgical though and it works alot better just really expensive.

Watchdog as in Casey Coutier and greyline/gotti as in Richard Barrera? I am familiar with the pitbull lines until those names come into play. Everything from then on is Latin to me. All those are some impressive animals.

All the previous dogs I am aware of and most all dogs of today are decendants of Colby dogs.  I use boudreaux/ jeep dogs exclusively for pits. How much research have u put into how the gotti/ razor edge dogs got so short legged, broad chested, and blue?  Now Casey courtier had the ABA out in Cali. And was notoriously believed to be crossing pits and abs and regestering them as one or the other through his own registry.  I only ask because I don't know for sure.
