The Sizzlin Heat dog was a coon dog not a hog dog.  After Heat won the World Championship, a lot hog, bear, cat plott guys wanted Heat in their pedigrees.  I don't think there is a Sizzlin Heat Bloodline that was started and line bred around Heat.  Ive had and still have dogs with Heat in their peds.  I have not looked at papers but I believe the Heat dog goes back to a Kansas Joe Boy and a female named Queen.  Some of the dogs in Kansas line were also coon dogs and going back further were some bear dogs.  One of the best plots Ive seen in a while has a good bit of heat in here....and Ive seen some dogs with heat in them that didn't make the cut.

Syberts and Ottos Sarge is a full brother to Sizzling Heat. He is also in the hall of fame as a coondog.

If I was looking to replicate Heat . . I'd try 1/4 Walker, 1/4 Redtick, 1/2 Plott. Keep the brindled up pups. Just a thought.  8)

Want to identify your sources Barlow?   I could care less myself but its real easy to spot those that consistently drag up any and all "dirt" they can on every dog or bloodline they can.

Real Classy!!!!    Everyone on these sites know and have heard to rumors that surround all the high profile dogs and bloodlines  (German Shepard crosses, pit bull crosses, and every other rumor out there, true or not)  but most just mind their own business.  I could care less about Heat but it really gets under my skin when people are so insecure they feel like if they bring everything down around them then they may be able to feel better about themselves and their accomplishments.

You must have gotten your "lunch money" taken a lot when you were in grade school!!

Dear Mr Oconee,

You could care less about a lot of stuff apparently. I didn't address you in this thread or the last time you started puffing your feathers up like a little banty rooster. I don't have to tell you my source or describe my dogs to you or fulfill any other of your childish demands. When they pass a rule about not speaking freely on this discussion forum . . I'll start minding my own business just like you do. But until then my definition of classy isn't selling mixed breed dogs as registered Plotts just because someone sold em to me that way. I quit registering my Plotts when I learned of just such a dog in their pedigrees. Does integrity not count when it comes to dogs? I'm not bound to your code of defending the honor of men I never met because we both own the same color coon dogs. What other crimes or frauds would you be willing to help someone cover up? Child abuse? Bank robbery? Every day I hear or read things from men who doubt the accuracy of registration papers. This is why. Because one man will lie about his pedigree for personal gain and everyone else supports him in case they might get the chance to gain as well.

I believe Edmund Burke said it best when he said . . "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."

Your friend in Plotts . .

Barlow

Mr.  Barlow you have a way of making my points for me!   Your right,  you don't have to tell anyone anything!  The problem I have with you is all your post do tell something, and I know, you spent several years reading books and surfing the web and know all there is to know about Plott bloodlines so all I'm asking is for you to share some of the brighter sides of your research every once in a while and stop pointing out every nasty rumor you can to deminish an amazing breed of dog.  There is not a perfect breed and I happen to Love Plotts and would really like to be able to get on this fourm every night and not have Negative Shots at my breed of choice crammed down my throat!

Sorry if I came off wrong, but I got a little pissed about a few things you've said lately.  If you don't like the Plott Breed, thats fine just leave us cross-bred coon dog guys alone.

Thank you

Here we go again. If I know something it must have come from books or the internet. You're just a dedicated Plott man defending his breed.

What I know came from driving the wheels off of several vehicles so I could learn the truth from the men who were there when it happened. From Tennessee to Western North Carolina to Illinois to South Carolina to Michigan and Wisconsin and Pennsylvania and West Virginia. So I guess you could say I have some sources. I've talked to a World Champion Plott owner and I've spoken with a man who raised a crossed up coon dog and sold him at 19 months old. I've spent time with and bred dogs with and hunted with legends and hall of famers and some just good old fashioned, decent dog men. I contributed to the Plott Associations and wrote articles for the yearbooks. I started and ran what was the most successful big game Plott website on the net . . . about a decade ago. Then I traded it for an option on a pup that I produced and walked away when I realized it was just another avenue for dog jockeys to peddle their wares. I'm not sure what these books are you referred to, but I've hunted at times as hard as any man in this country. I've lived in hunting camps and camper trailers. I squatted on coal company land in a tent in West Virginia for seven months, delivering pizzas at night so I could afford the gas to bear hunt 6 or 7 mornings a week. I lived without electricity or television or internet for the better part of four years . . so I could hunt and raise dogs. The very first time I ever went hog hunting was for five months. I may be older and slower now but don't pretend I'm some internet pretender. I wake up every day thinking I still have a lot to learn but I'm guessing I'll learn it in the belly of some swamp or up a holler at the base of a tree.

I've got a couple cross bred Plotts right now that make me happy or sometimes angry. Last week one of them made me sad. But I can assure you that they don't ever make me lie for profit.

Lol, you got me.  I"m dealing with a LEGEND after all.  All I'm saying is if you don't have anything good to say then maybe it best to just keep it to yourself.  This is a public site and your are welcome to start and/or spread any rumors you've heard or read about, I just simply said it's not Classy to do so.  If your want to make yourself heroic for alerting others about the shady characters within the dog world go ahead but I see it as an insecurity issue, thus supported by your "selfgreatness rant" you just forced on all of us.

Here's a question for you, HERO.  Did you do all that tent-living and pizza-delivering for yourself or the dogs in your dog box?    You have already answered with your self-glorfication speech and I will not lower myself any more so don't bother with typing another greatness letter.

I give up, you win!

I'm sorry for starting all this crap and won't paticipate any longer.

Alvin- I used the check this site and others several times a day.  I read every thread on the two plott sites and I scanned this site for topics that said anything about Plott.  I would read and re-read, trying to gain insight and read others opinions (good or bad).  I've come to the conclusion that I now "surf" topics in the same way that I always have, but I only read what you, Nathan Doss, Mike Cauley, and Mike Patton post for this site.

I really dont care anymore what anyone has to say about the plotts, I just care how mine perform on a daily basis.  I have one dog in my kennel that has the pedigree in question on her papers.  Will I ever breed her, IDK- but chances are I wont and chances are if I do breed her, I may cross her on a really nice, rough cur dog.  Her papers will stay in my dog papers file and she may become just a memory one day.  But- since it will be my memory I dont give a dang what others post about.

Here's the thing...I'd venture to say in every breed there have been/is/and will be paper hangers. It doesn't reflect poorly on the breed itself...just the men/women that actually hung them. My preferred breed of catchdog was "created" by hanging papers back in the early 70's...and the fact is, there are still those unscrupulous breeders out there doing it today. Would it/does it bother me when it is brought up on a message board...no. Hell, it's the truth. A pedigree is only as good as the man or woman that hands it to you and you can't control what deceit has been done by others throughout the years. Why get bent out of shape about it?
