Title: Baton Rouge?
Post by: dub on May 26, 2014, 10:55:55 pm
Well I finally got a decent job but now I travel. I will be going to Baton Rouge and can't wait for some good food. But my question is about fishing. Where do I go get a license? I will be working long hours with no days off but it would be nice to get a string wet. I ain't planning on keeping anything but I follow the law. I figured someone on here could explain it simple for me.

Should be able to catch some cats around the new and old mississippi river bridge on chicken liver, Brim on crickets or bass in some canals, bayous and rivers. Could also fish the lakes around LSU. Traffic wont be as bad since school is out and the lake has nice scenery. Look on your map for a road called Dalrymple and take it south leading you to LSU campus. youll see the lakes before you hit campus and there are usually people catching a few brim there and I'm sure bass too.

Ditto. Some bait stores sell licenses too. I go to Walmart for mine.

I followed that link and a non resident license is rather pricey. I guess all states pull that non resident license garbage. Mine is free in Texas and would be free in LA if I lived there. Think I will just go buy some good food already cooked. I do love going LA. I told my boss that he can send me there as much as he wants because I get along just fine over there. We speak the same language even if I don't understand a word some folks say ;) Good people over there for sure and some real good food.

U think la charges a lot for non resident, take a look at the price tx charges. It's nearly triple what la charges. U r right, we get our super combo for free here n tx, but now that I'm working in  up here in Oregon and know what kinda hunting/fishing is like, if I have time, I'll be getting me an Oregon non res combo license and possibly do some mnt lion hunting while up here.

If I had more time off it would be worth it. But I roll in and work ten days straight and then head out. I travel so much that I plan to get an RV trailer so I don't have to pay for hotels and can find places I can fish. If they will send me to LA regular I will get a combo license.

I feel ya on that. My schedule is 14 on, 7 off, but my company pays for airfare/mileage to and from home and for hotel costs. I was unused how it would work and was looking at getting an rv too, but when I found out bout paid travel and housing. I figured I could use that $ to pay for my Heli license instead

I pay my own travel and hotel. I don't worry about me but I get pissed being woken up because LEOs have some dumb butt on the ground by room asking questions while I am trying to sleep so I can go to work. I work 10 to 14 days then get 3 or 4 off. My wife said the company should pay travel and hotel. But I get paid good and I know they would lower the pay based on the most expensive hotel and then put me in the cheapest. I stay cheap for now so I can get caught up on the bills. I can pick up a decent trailer for about 4k then when I am done I can sell it for about the same. I'll get a new trans for my truck first and figure that as my cost.
