Title: Got a question
Post by: ChanceandAnita on June 09, 2014, 04:40:03 pm
The other night we had two dogs on the hood, jus driving into one of our places. Dogs alerted we stop and they baled off running. The dogs are on the run and every 800 yards we are coming in and out of commication on the hand held. Two and 1/2 hours later (3 miles away) we finally catch up with them needless to say they didn't shut down the runners but one of my dogs was in bad shape. He was weak and wabbly legged, I jus assumed he was tired. Then my dog went to puking and lost control of his bowls, curled up in the dog box and basically shut down went to sleep. This was the first time this has ever happen, didn't know quite what to do so we waited till he woke offered water , he took jus a little. I'm pretty sure now he must have over heated or could have took a hit  but my question is ..... Do dogs that have over heated , more exceptible to this again or is it jus a combination of things that caused him to stress out .  My dog is alive but still weak and dont feel really good. Has anyone else experienced this with there dogs?

Yes, they are more likely to over heat once they have had a heat stroke or bad heat exhaustion, Just like we are more likely to become a heat/cold weather casualty once we have been subjected the the extreme. Dogs and any other animal will succumbed to the problem again once exposed
