Title: The other national forests?
Post by: BOBDOG on September 08, 2009, 10:31:49 pm
I never quite understood how the "National" forest (Sam Houston) got sucked into the "Texas" public hunting program. it is Federal land, not state land. We already pay federal income taxes. We should be able to use federal land with out paying the state, again. the management of game animals is suppose to come from hunting licenses and tags.
Anyway, My question is this, can you still run hogs with dogs on the other forests in Texas. The Angelina, Davy Crocett and the Sabine National Forests?

Not to HIghjack Bob, but I would also like to throw LBJ caddo grass lands into the names. I only live 45 minutes from there and have never hunted it.

Don't know about the other forest's, but as far as the state controlling it...that's just the way it is.

No different than me having to purchase a NON-RESIDENT hunting licence and tag to go shoot elk on Federal property (Rio Grande National Forest) in Colorado.

I believe you can run dogs on the other national forests... we checked on Davy Crockett years back and it was legal.

Not sure, but you may want to call the U.S. Forest Service to verify.
