Title: New Addition To My Pack! Post by: TazD on June 20, 2014, 01:08:11 pm I have been searching for a dog for game recovery work. A buddy of mine who was helping me find one, called the other day and gave me the contact info. Made a call, shot the breeze for awhile, then we came to a agreement for the dog!!
The dog is a female Florida Cur, she is 2yrs old, Kempfer Blood, works cattle (rough), hunts hogs (tries them all), and has over 40 animals recovered under her already! A real nice addition to my pack! Will let her settle in for a week and then I will work her some. I am primarily going to use her for game recovery, and hog hunting! She will also be a great addition to the breeding program!! Just about a week ago when asked why your selling fancy you said(jr i dont keep females in my yard).hmmm Title: Re: New Addition To My Pack! Post by: TazD on June 21, 2014, 10:28:37 am Thanks guys.
Bignasty it's a conspiracy!!! I will spend some time with her, if she fits my standard, she will be bred, then I will find a buddy to place her with. I am glad you are paying attention to what I do!! Hmmmmmm.... Lol... Title: Re: New Addition To My Pack! Post by: MrsLouisianaHogDog on June 21, 2014, 11:44:20 am Congrats on the new addition! Hope she keeps d

Title: Re: New Addition To My Pack! Post by: Florida Curdog on June 21, 2014, 07:13:44 pm Looks good Guy. She looks identical to a dog named Squirt my youngest brother gave Hoppy years ago.
Title: Re: New Addition To My Pack! Post by: TazD on June 23, 2014, 07:11:02 am I am liking her so far Jimmy. Not much of a handle on her compared to my dogs, but she is very smart and learning fast. I filmed a hog bow hunt with Hoppy about 25yrs ago! Shot 7 nice hogs and had a good time with him! I was good friends with Scott and that's how I met Hoppy.
Title: Re: New Addition To My Pack! Post by: TazD on June 24, 2014, 12:57:02 pm She did not make the cut!!!!!!!
Title: Re: New Addition To My Pack! Post by: Curcross1987 on June 24, 2014, 01:46:59 pm Just wondering how you know if a dog makes the cut in 4 days
Title: Re: New Addition To My Pack! Post by: Judge peel on June 24, 2014, 02:16:24 pm Lol that is some funny stuff I usely give them at least few weeks and a dozen hunts but to each his own
Title: Re: New Addition To My Pack! Post by: slckhunter1978 on June 24, 2014, 02:20:33 pm Dam what a quick cut? Did she do somethng awful?
Title: Re: New Addition To My Pack! Post by: -Hdogs on June 24, 2014, 02:46:58 pm Just wondering how you know if a dog makes the cut in 4 days x2 Title: Re: New Addition To My Pack! Post by: MrsLouisianaHogDog on June 24, 2014, 05:42:24 pm She'd already had around 40 animals under her belt already no? Did she not make the cut because you don't like how she works or somethin? She likely needs ample time as any dog to adjust and bond to you as her new handler.....
Title: Re: New Addition To My Pack! Post by: TazD on June 24, 2014, 08:07:59 pm Slow, could not bust through the jungle where I hunt, to small, not as athletic as I want, did not honor the bays, etc, etc.. I have trained Professional athletes for 30 yrs, I have trained horses, dogs, etc...I know what it takes to be a Top athlete, top dog, etc!!! Just because a dog has 400 hogs under its belt does not mean its good!! Guys posting up they catch 10-20 hogs a hunt are hunting where a cat could find hogs!! You will not find 10-20 hogs in a hunt where I go, you will be lucky to consistantly find 1-3 on a hunt!! Plus half of the people could not walk the 6-10 miles through what I hunt in let alone their dogs finding hogs. No Truck, ATV, UTV, Horse etc! Old school, drop the dogs and hussle to try and stay close.
I have hunted with plenty of dogs that were Jamup dogs that are hunted on ranches, in groves, and open terrain, but when they were hunted where I hunt, could not find Chit!!! Plus I keep only 3-5 dogs, not 10-20, so my standards on my dogs as well as my self is alot higher then most!! But I do appreciate your concern on my decision! Now she might have been a good game recovery dog, but I do not want good, I want Great!! Now that being said, I am not interested in debating what you think I should do because you would do it different, you are not me, and you are not feeding my dogs!! Title: Re: New Addition To My Pack! Post by: MrsLouisianaHogDog on June 24, 2014, 08:23:24 pm To be honest I could care less hat you do with your dogs. Speaking for myself I was just curious as to why she didn't make the cut. You first post about her sounded like she was the chit, then you posted one sentence saying he didn't make the cut. Of course naturally folks are just gonna ask why.
Title: Re: New Addition To My Pack! Post by: Judge peel on June 24, 2014, 09:08:03 pm Your hunts sound bout like my average hunt Man you must be one heck of a trainer lol

Just about a week ago when asked why your selling fancy you said(jr i dont keep females in my yard).hmmm I was wondering if anyone remembered me asking that? Title: Re: New Addition To My Pack! Post by: TazD on June 25, 2014, 07:40:52 am Mrslouisiana. One persons idea of a jamup dog may not be so jamup to someone else. I am sure you have purchased dogs that were supposively good dogs and they were not. Read my hunt I took her on, and she did not perform like I want my dogs to perform. I am sure you would of made the same decision I did. The trial on her was for 2wks! She did not show me much in the hunt. So I made the decision not to keep her. I will just train the patterdale pup I am getting from Tommy for game recovery. Oh, by the way thanks for the reference for Tommy!
Judge. Maybe when I get to old to handle doing the hunting by myself I will recruit some kids to do it for me! Lol.... Now if you want to pick up your game some I will send you one of my books to help you out! Lol... I was hoping she would of been a good dog, but it did not work out. That's okay, I have always had better luck breeding and raising my own. Title: Re: New Addition To My Pack! Post by: Judge peel on June 25, 2014, 08:45:25 am Tazd if you are referring to my to boys they are two hell of hands they both graduated school two yrs early and both work on two different ranches training horses. They smoke every one that has hunted with me and don't brag one bit. And if you wrote a book send me a copy I like to color. I like hunting by myself and my boys there is no ? about it they ain't kids you would have to train your self to beat them lol
Title: Re: New Addition To My Pack! Post by: JUNIOR SEFFERN on June 25, 2014, 01:12:55 pm I'm just confused as to the fact that the dog was purchased for game recovery. Ifthe dog excels at game recovery and has 40 finds then why would you cull a dog off your yard in two weeks for not hog hunting? Doesn't make any sense to me? Not trying to start anything with anyone just trying to get to the bottom of the story. Us florida guys have a bad taste in other folks mouths as it is when we talk about our cur dogs to begin with.

Ah so you're getting a pup from Tommy huh? You shouldn't be disappointed. At least we have been happy with everything we've got from him. He's also a stand up guy to deal with. Good people. Post by: warrent423 on June 26, 2014, 05:02:23 pm If she don't make his cut, she don't make it, his call. My uncle in Sebring has got a male Kempfer dog that is making one hell of a cowdog at a young age. He really isn't what I would consider rough, but has excellent cow sense and is always in the right place at the right time. He is smart as a whip and takes handle easily. This dog is straight cow and has never been put on hogs, so couldn't tell you if he would work. Although my uncle's style has gotten a little "soft" these days, I still prefer a dog that gets as "rank" as I need it to be. Like I told you Taz, by crossing him with my "rough" Leopard gyp I hope to get at least a couple that make my "cut" ;)

Post by: TazD on June 27, 2014, 02:29:32 pm This is some funny stuff! I decide not to keep a dog that does not make my standards and all the Expert Hog Dogger jump on the post saying how what I did was wrong. I have no problem doing it, the man I got the dog from has no problem with it, other then the gyp will not be bred to one of my males, and he will not be getting a pup from the breeding, so why would it bother someone else?? Who is insecure with who they are?? Sure is not me!
The drama on the sights come from people criticizing others on their post! Acting like they know it all. Then when you give back what they gave you they cry like little girls, getting all defensive, trying to twist what they said to you as being okay, and what you said to them was completly wrong! Trust me I do not have to talk myself up to prove who I am, thats not the way I was raised, my actions have done that for me my whole life! Just one of the TV shows I have been on breaking records and showing what I am made of is "The American Gladiators". That show had 100,000 people tryout to get on the show who could not make it!! Not bragging, Just a fact!! So maybe I am a little better then most in somethings! My dog hunting videos and pics, (over 1000 of them) in 10yrs proves I am able to find, and catch hogs hunting 1-2 of my dogs out, consistently in a area that is tough to do it in. But who really judges who they are by fishing and hunting?? I sure do not!! I get my self worth by being a great husband to my wife, a great father to my kids, and a great friend to my friends!! No doubt I am competitive. So when challenged I am game to step up to the plate with anyone! Have done that with professional athletes for 30yrs. Is it a fault, maybe, but I always love a challenge. That was ingrained in me by my dad, a Navel Academy Graduate, and Major in the Marine Corps for 25yrs, and the 3yrs I spent in the service! Good Day, and Good Hunting! Post by: TazD on June 27, 2014, 04:03:43 pm No Judge I said that because on a previous post of mine when I went on a solo hunt and had to swim across a river to my dogs that had a hog caught out and then I had to swim back across the river to get to them again, you made the comment that is why you raised up some red neck boys to do that for you!!!!!!!
So I said if you want to pickup your game I will send you one of my books! I am also a published author, with a Book, and exercise DVD's to help people get in better shape. You see I do not need anyone to do that for me Yet!! So, yes, put the big boy britches on if you are going put comments like that on my post. It's that simple!! Then you challenge me with your boys, and tell me I need to train some to stay up with them!!! Now that's some funny stuff right there! If you are going to post something on others post first try to remember what you said and second be ready for a response. Title: Re: New Addition To My Pack!
