What have you used to spray fences that was most effective and efficient?  I have been using "mad dog" which is a glyphosphate like round up but I have not been impressed with the results.  I mix it really hot and still it does not work on berry vines, green vines and other non grass plants that I am trying to kill.  Any recommendations appreciated.

Get some flex star to mix with ur round up. It will pick up some of the tougher broad leaves like morning glory and such. I'm not sure if it will get the vines or not. Gramoxon is a good general desiccant. It only kills what it touches no residual and doesn't kill to the root. Will usually burn off at the ground. Aim is also a good broad leaf chemical. It may do better than flex star on the vines. I prefer to use real roundup over generic. It seems to trans locate in the plant better. Weather max is a 6lb material meaning 1 gal should treat 6ac at normal strength. Some generic roundup is as low as 3lb material. Also if u contact ur county extension they should be able to give u some info on what will work best free of charge.

I use a combo of 24d and a glycophosphate and it has worked to get the switch cane and briars under control, but gotta hit them hard again since it's been nearly a yr since I sprayed. And I busted up an old road and exposed the cane roots to moisture and fresh soil and have a frenzy of cane. But again, the 24d and glycophosphate worked before. Hopefully they didn't build a tolerance to it

 Some might think this is a jk , but i have used the old Crawfish boil water to kill weeds and (poison ivy) are big boil pot drains from a valve at the bottom so it's easy to get... I bought a 20 dollar bottle of round up and that stuff didn't work on (poison ivy). I can't stand poison ivy! 

   what we use to use on the power line right of ways was a product called garlon 4 mixed with light weight transformer oil or 10wt oil . it will kill grown trees and all so you have to be carefull with it  .

Briars and vines can be tough. You got to hit them at the right time, and glyphosphate(Roundup) ain't gonna do squat to them. My spray guy told me Ally works the best on them. Also we have had luck with Banvel but it is super expensive and almost impossible to find this year. Remedy with surfactant will do just hit them as they are blooming and be prepared to hit them again the following year. It may take 2-3 years to get rid of them

Thank you all for the info.  I've got about 3200' of fence line we had cleared and had fence built on.  The old fence row was grown up in hackberry trees and it seems they are trying to sprout back off of the exposed roots. I know remedy and diesel will take care of that but these vines are something else.  I've got several miles of fence I need to spray outside of this so cost is definitely an important factor.

Matt, whatever you use, if you put a bottle of the green dish washing liquid in the tank, it will make the poison stick on the weeds better & you should have better luck.

Call a lawn care place like tru green. I used one of their trucks to spray my fence lines with a sterilizer. Nothing grew for almost two years.

I use eraser.  You can get it at almost any feed store it takes it a few days to kill them but once the start dying they will stay dead.

I use the Pronto Big N Tuf from TSC to spray my fence lines. I haven't sprayed it on anything that it couldn't kill.

Arsenal. Google it. It will kill most anything

Diesel and remedy

Roundup makes a product that kills poison ivy. So far it has worked pretty good for me.

1 gallon vinegar, 2 cups Epsom salt, 1/4 cup Dawn dish soap. I ain't tried it yet. Wife found the recipe somewhere. If it works it sounds cheaper than roundup and not as bad for critters and the environment.

Surmount is pretty good.  If you don't want anything use a sterilizer like Hyvar, Polaris, or Sahara. You may lose posts to errosion with the sterilizer.

Jas anyone tried the homemade remedy with vinegar Epson salt and Dawn.  I tried it and it never worked,  just wondering if anyone else had a different result?

I ended up mixing my glyphosphate a little hotter than normal and then adding Remedy at 1% to the tank.  I was told this is what a lot of utility company's do and the county for spraying around poles and right of ways.  We will know in a week or two if it worked. 

This spring while it's cool but stuff is growing hit it with 2-4D. A strong dose of D will work hard on any broad leaf. Including trees. It will also smoke most yard plants and flowers. Grass and grass like plants are about the only thing D won't atleast ding up.

Same here. My landlord said they have used it for the longest and it's some bad stuff!
