EAST TEXAS HOG DOGGERS FORUM

Got a three year old dog that for the past
3 weeks has hardly eating and is down to
Skin and bones . I can only get him to eat
Canned food and not very much of that. Taken him
To vet 3 times all ready all they have done is
Percribe some antibiotics . Ain't helping as far
As I can see.they have run blood test
Poop sample with no answers. All They say is his
White blood cells are high. Only thing I
Can think if is he starting catching and eating
Birds in his kennel.

Only visual symptoms he shows are some
More than usual eye boogers and a deep
Cough ever so often not all the time .
No dirrea and drinks lots of water.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I've also noticed a lot of eye boogers one my dogs and was acting like she had a broke tell. that's the only problem i've seen. other then a few weeks ago she didn't eat for like a day or so. oh yea shes been drinking a lot too.

Had a dog eat a rag once...he went off his feed but kept drinking....got to looking REAL bad....but...eventually either passed it or threw it up. I found it in his kennel. He was fine after that.

Give that dog a ringer a day of subQ fluids, some Nutrical and plenty of shade. You can also squirt
Coconut oil down his gullet for a few days and see if it helps

Could be an intestinal blockage maybe? Give him some mineral oil...worth a shot.
Usually, a high white blood cell count is indicative of infection of sorts....cancer, etc. have you had them take an abdominal radiograph by chance? I would.....

They did an ex-ray of lungs and stomach.?
Not sure if that's the same thing .

With white blood cell high sonds like maybe cancer

Just had dog with same symptoms but breathing hard also ended up having Lyme disease and eurlicia both tic diseases the eurlicia had him bleeding internally got it under control tho doing good .

He has now developed some discomfort
In his face . He keeps rubbing his face with paws
And in the grass .

I took mine to the vet and they put him on some meds and drained fluid off his lungs . H is showed up in blood tests

If he ain't kenneled by himself do it. I don't want to tell you things that are simple but kennel alone and keep food in his bowl. I would also do the other things recommended. If it comes down to it put the dog food in a blender with water or milk to make it liquid and tube it down with a funnel and tube a little bit at a time. A big syringe if you got one with smaller tubing so you don't choke the dog would be better.

I've got him away from the other dogs .
He has developed a pretty good cough
The past couple of days . Going back to vet
In the morning . Thanks for all your help fellas

Went back to doc. She thinks maybe a
Fungal infection. Took blood and sent to
University for evaluation. But since we have
Been home he devolved a lump on his
Shoulder. It's hard and about the size of
A golf ball. Not sure if it's from having blood
Taken or what. Anybody know where they
Stick needle to pull blood sample?

  they draw blood on the lower leg . what kind of vet you using ?  I all ways stay with my dogs at the vet .

I'm using a well known vet in midland
Had never had complaints about them.
They take dogs to the "hospital" area to draw blood
While you wait in exam room

Blood came back from university.
Positive for fungal infection in his lungs .
Will be on meds for a month or 2.
Glad he ain't gonna die. Lol
