They will start to poison hogs in all there units in Hardin County this month I have seen it two years ago in Lance Rosier Unit by the backhoe buckets full .

That sucks

I didn't read the part about the Lance Rosier Unit I was a witness I was squirrel hunting and heard the commotion and slipped up and saw it. The up coming eradication was in the Silsbee bee newspaper,so I called my uncle who also is a government trapper and he confirmed it.

That sucks big time for us i think our county borders hardin county

They might put it on hold if a few of those deer start dying around there.

I have heard the same rumor from a couple of hunters in North Central Tx.

I am beginning to wonder if the high # of mysteriously sick or dying dog posts are related to this poison?

I heard some guy tell me he found a way to poison them.... I just blew it off cus I figured he was blowing smoke but sure enough he has slim to none on his place now.... Idk wat he used or how he got it but I've caught quite a few hogs out there. It's high fenced with good fences checked every day and he was covered up. He never hunted them much just shot them out of his deer stand. And I hunted it twice with dogs and had hay days both times. I went out there and rode my horse around and I saw no sign at all. I know it's a possibility for them to pack up and move out just like always but dont seem likely to me because they had corn feeders year round, grain fields, thick cover and water, and very little pressure.

Where can we find more info on this? Hardin county is dang near my back yard and i know a buncha others guys in this area as well

Not to say I don't believe it but I would think there would have to be more of a public notice then just in the "silsbee bee" that's a town of only a thousand or so folks

No worries fellas just got off the phone with Hardin county tp&w and they confirmed they ARE NOT poisoning hogs in our area. And that they have not heard of any information that would suggest of out area even doing that due to the amount of hunting that is done in our area

Trust the word of the gov as far as u can throw ur tck.

If there are true worries of the possibility, start a town/community inquiry n have it publicized and make the tpwd put it in writting that NO poisoning of the hogs will be done

yea well I am sure its coming for every state and aint nothin we can do about it. To many farmers and deer hunters hate hogs

Not saying the call wasnt worth a dang thing just saying dont trust their word just bc they told u so. If they told u they would give a free pass on any game law u broke. Would take just their word on it or would u want it writing?

First time it kills a dog or something and someone sues the government and gets some money from it they'll stop trying to do it. If they have an issue with hogs in central texas why don't we all make a hunt up there lol

I'm not knocking you for being proactive, I just don't trust anything the govt. has to say....

I don't really care if they do poison hogs. I've practiced catch and release, and killed plenty of hogs, so I'm not picking any sides.. but the truth is that hogs are a nuisance all over the state, and the current methods of hunting are not effective enough to put a stop to the destruction and financial hardship caused to farmers and ranchers.
