What's y'alls opinion on nose dogs?  I know everyone has their own opinion,  let's hear it. (http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/08/06/e4ujehu9.jpg)

If you are killing the hogs  it does not matter. Nosedogs ruin to many hogs by breaking the snout. I myself prefer a ear dog but if you have some earless hogs around, they could come in handy.lol

Have seen them catch on nose and catch tusk top are bottom,and realy do damage.to the dog.have seen big hogs pen dog down and go to work on him.iam ear guy.just what ive seen.

Never had one or hunted with one but a lil to close to the blades for me. If they get hold and don't get smashed I'm sure they could make a big pig sit down.

From my experience I would take a good nose or snout dog on a good boar any day.  They seem to really take the fight out of a good boar.  But then again we usually have one on the ear also. A good nose dog is not a cull by any means in my opinion.

Cajun pretty much summed up how I feel about them.  My bulldog has caught the last two hogs on the snout,
Or side of the snout more superficially.  It hasn't hurt the hogs at all, but the first snout he breaks, I'll cull him plain and simple.  I see no use in ruining future Barr hogs.

They aren't a preference for me but I had a little gyp that only caught in the end of the nose, never across the snout. She sure made a few sure enough big hogs say uncle and didn't seems to mess the hog up. That was the only one I have ever seen like that.

Same for me on both guys above.  I did have one and you had to take the good with the bad.  Didn't get cut up much, but broke a lot of snouts,

My young friend has one he was dang good at one time he had caught many a hog like that a big rank one got him good last yr tho he got early retirement

I've had that black dog in the pic for 4 years he's caught on the nose probably 85% of the time.  He'll dang sure make a hog sit back,  haven't had too many broken snouts we sell all the hogs we catch to a buyer.  We can't barr hogs around here your reputation for releasing caught hogs would put you out of business.

one of my buddys has one now that catches on top on the snout and he seems to miss alot of hogs the first time, i had one a few years ago that started the habit to and he got to missing alot, i wouldnt cull a nose dog as most bulldogs dont usually live a long life anyway but i wouldnt go buy one, i just like a dog to catch on the ear

Would it be ok if second CD got snout as the first is on ear??

Pretty simple ? If ya ask me.....if a fella is barrin and tirnin loose a nose dog would be no bueno but if you are killin everything you catch i wouldnt imagine it makes a difference other than personal preference.

if he's a true nose dog I have no use for him he's gonna get killed or have no teeth after a couple of big toothy boars.
