Title: Re: hunt - 464# Boar Post by: matt_aggie04 on September 15, 2009, 02:10:46 pm Almost makes you want to DNA test him to see what it was about him that allowed him to get that big. He doesn't look like the oldest hog in the woods but he must have had some premium grociers and some good blood.

Title: Re: hunt - 464# Boar Post by: Cutter Bay Kennels on September 15, 2009, 02:17:20 pm That guy looks like he has been robbing a few corn fields! Dang he is big! Hopefully we will get the story and details. I would like to know if he was a monster with the dogs on him or if he was big and slow....?? If I was a gambling man, I would say he did not run, but rather just dared the dogs to come in. He's a good one, that is for sure. Title: Re: hunt - 464# Boar Post by: BarrNinja on September 15, 2009, 02:20:28 pm What a beast!!!
I'll bet someone a 6 pack of their choice that "he didn't run"! Title: Re: hunt Post by: Bump on September 15, 2009, 02:20:33 pm Got the same message, but I have not seen any pics yet. None of this can be verified until cantexduck reviews and approves. rolleyes Title: Re: hunt - 464# Boar Post by: Cull Buck on September 15, 2009, 02:21:51 pm The story I got was this hog was caught on some property that usually never has hogs. The land owner has been seeing this big one around and saw it yesterday afternoon in the middle of his cows. They went out with 3 bay dogs (one of which is some little dog smaller than a jagd) and two catchdogs.
Freaking beast for sure. Title: Re: hunt - 464# Boar Post by: catchrcall on September 15, 2009, 02:23:32 pm that thing is huge! I wish I could have read that measuring tape. I'm curious to know how long it was.

Title: Re: hunt - 464# Boar Post by: Circle C on September 15, 2009, 02:27:44 pm Quote that thing is huge! I wish I could have read that measuring tape. I'm curious to know how long it was. The measuring tape runs out a couple inches before his thumb. It stops reading at 60" Title: Re: hunt - 464# Boar Post by: Cutter Bay Kennels on September 15, 2009, 02:30:03 pm This one is close in size. You should try paying for the feed for this dog.

Title: Re: hunt Post by: PrettyDog on September 15, 2009, 02:38:23 pm hey guys this is Krystal, my computer died yesterday, I am crash course learning my daughters laptop, thats why I am signed in under her screenname, but I am working on getting the photos up. I scored this hog, It is a wild hog and you heard correctly on the stats. Holly Cassen of Weiser Weight came down to witness the weighing. I got a call yesterday evening to see if I could score this Boar that the Holub boys caught, I knew if the called it would be good. When they arrived about 9 pm, my jaw dropped, now I had another problem, How the hell was I gonna weight this hog?????????? Home with me and my daughter, and not enough scale to get the job done. I called the Owners of Weiser Weight & Tusk and asked for help. Holly was eager to come to the rescue with the official Big Scale.
Tractor would not start so it took us a little while to mange to get the hog raised enough to get it weighed. First attempt had the oak limb cracking. It was dark and fire ants were eating us up, but we got the booger off the trailer enough to swing with out breaking anything (http://lh6.ggpht.com/_mFSDOgRZVlo/Sq_h2Vzhk2I/AAAAAAAAE6I/gBrdk1cxCPU/s512/Mr.Mason%20051.JPG) (http://lh4.ggpht.com/_mFSDOgRZVlo/Sq_h33KNjHI/AAAAAAAAE5k/l-t3__rEa-o/s640/Mr.Mason%20050.JPG) (http://lh3.ggpht.com/_mFSDOgRZVlo/Sq_htAmvuPI/AAAAAAAAE5U/Scyz40H_SCM/s640/Mr.Mason%20054.JPG) (http://lh3.ggpht.com/_mFSDOgRZVlo/Sq_hTmKNNcI/AAAAAAAAE4o/FZi8muy0uf4/s640/Mr.Mason%20068.JPG) (http://lh6.ggpht.com/_mFSDOgRZVlo/Sq_hod9VJAI/AAAAAAAAE5M/eKFgurMXQCw/s640/Mr.Mason%20057.JPG) (http://lh6.ggpht.com/_mFSDOgRZVlo/Sq_gycah_hI/AAAAAAAAE30/9O1YWB8zhbs/s640/Mr.Mason%20096.JPG) Title: Re: hunt - 464# Boar Post by: catchrcall on September 15, 2009, 02:39:52 pm so that means that it's five feet at about mid ham, so I could safely assume he's about six feet from nose to the start of his tail. that's a big ol boy.
Title: Re: hunt - 464# Boar Post by: cantexduck on September 15, 2009, 02:45:45 pm WOW!!!! I would crap myself.
That is a monster hog. I would love to read the story on it. Title: Re: hunt - 464# Boar Post by: PrettyDog on September 15, 2009, 03:05:12 pm WellI will try to tell it second hand. The Holubs are not on the internet. The property is only 300 acres of cattle ranch. The landowners have seen the hog several times around their cattle. He had been shot once awhile back, with 22 did not phase him. Seen him yesterday early, so when the boys got off work they picked through a few dogs that were not on injured list. They have been on aroll the past few weeks several very large hogs taking a toll on the dogs. So they loaded Hook, Tiny Baby, and Camo, two catch dogs Rhino and Kojak. Hook struck and was joined by the other two, they got close and cut Rhino loose, seen Rhino and the Hog and caught bay dogs (including 20 lb Tiny Baby) Hog was swinging in circles, so sent Kojak and he was still moving . Cullen grabbed him, but could not budge big boy, Clayton grabbed ahold and were not able to roll him so Clayton just stuck him while struggling with him. Hook and Camo had some injures but nothing terrible, Hooks ear is sliced and Camo had a few chest gashes. They went to the vet anyway to be sure that was all. Took several grown men pushing the 4 wheeler to get it moving to drag it out, and a bobcat with a bucket to load it.
Now this is the version i got from and excited 16 yr. old man. I tried to get more pictures, but Cullen did not seem to realize that this is a once in a life time hog, and not to mention it was midnight before we got the scoring completed! They did get acouple of pics in the feild, but I will have to scan those in later. Title: Re: hunt - 464# Boar Post by: BobbyB on September 15, 2009, 03:12:26 pm THat thing is a monster. Title: Re: hunt - 464# Boar Post by: Black Gold on September 15, 2009, 11:39:56 pm What an accomplishment! WAY TO GO HOLLUBS! To break the 300 pound mark is an accomplishment in my books, but to break 450....well that's like winning the lotto for me (hasn't happened for me and probaly NEVER WILL) I hunt less than 30 miles from where it was killed so all I can hope for is that there is some fat sows that were able to hold big boy and pass on those big growin genetics!
Cullen......That's what it's all about.....the record you broke in WWT was broke by almost 100 points......MUY-GRANDE of swine!!!!!! some will say that you might as well take up golf.....what's left to climb after you make it to the top of Everest? ;D....... Title: Re: hunt - 464# Boar Post by: matt_aggie04 on September 16, 2009, 09:24:50 am Did anyone measure from his foot to his shoulders? If that trailer is 5' wide then near as I can tell he was in the neighborhood of 38-42" tall and with the hair on his back standing up I would imagine he looked bigger then that. I can't imagine walking to a hog that is nearly 4' tall at the shoulders...
Matt Title: Re: hunt - 464# Boar Post by: courtneywidacki on September 16, 2009, 12:09:49 pm Rhino is one of the Amerigo, I believe he is a full brother to cotton, not too sure on that, Krystal will have to verify. But he is one heck of a good looking dog.And from what I was told, rhino slammed that hog and man handled it, of course any dog would need some help with hog that big. what I was told was that Camo, one of the bay dogs got thrown to Clayton's feet by this hog, and camo is no little dog. So he put up a good fight. I would have love to see this all first hand.

Title: Re: hunt - 464# Boar Post by: Mike on September 16, 2009, 07:41:10 pm I had to do a double take... I thought it was a kid laying by the hog on the trailer, then realized it was Holly! :o
Big hog! Title: Re: hunt - 464# Boar Post by: BoarBuster67 on September 17, 2009, 10:46:59 am what part of the world was he in, and did you flip him or just stick him. You flip that one you better bow up and hang on. Nice hog. Chris why cant we do that? I know why he was to big to run unlike the rest of the hogs we been chasing
Title: Re: hunt - 464# Boar Post by: wildboarusa on September 17, 2009, 08:40:58 pm I'm a wee bit late on posting - I am still so pumped over witnessing that monster! Thank you Cullen and Krystal for letting me pose in the pics. I was about to turn in for bed when I got the call so I'm scarier looking than the hog - JC got a little jealous once he saw the pics (he was in College Station) - I'm not sure if he was jealous over not being a part of it or if it was seeing me with another boar...hmmm...
Although it was in the aftermath, I got to be a part of it - once in a lifetime - incredible! HC Title: Re: hunt - 464# Boar Post by: ktchemwcurs on September 17, 2009, 08:44:55 pm That's a damn good hog!!!! Congrats!!
