Title: lacy/pit and lacy/cat update
Post by: HogzgoneWild on September 20, 2009, 11:14:16 pm
Ok folks the lacy/pit have the goods to be good dogs, 4th litter and last of this cross, all previous are used as hog dogs and all but 2 are find/bay dogs, other 2 are rcd. Want them to go to doggers, want 30 a pop or 50 for 2, will consider trades for equipment or anything of use(value not important). Have 5 left 4 females and 1 male, male is light reddish yellow with black mouth and a lil white on nose up to eyes, one female dark red with black down back also black mouth, other 4 females light reddish yellow with black mouths, all have white on chest.
The lacy/cat? pups there are 3 left, 1 male 2 females, male is light gray with dark gray patches and tan trim, one female looks just like him just smaller, other pup is light brown with black specks. These pups are free only because the sire is the only proven dog, mom is just yard dog. Welcome to give em' a try.
My computer is still jacked up and won't upload pics, can only send by phone.

Well everyone here's the update as of today!!! Picked up some pigs lastnight( slightly larger than the biggest pup) Let the pups out this evenin and walked them in the direction of the trailer and before I got there all 8 put noses up and went right to the trailer, not bein able to see them just smell.. It was a lil dark to really try them out but the male pit/lacy that I've believed to be the grittiest I put in with all 3 pigs. He sniffed around for a second saw them and went in with catchin on his mind. He got hit rolled and worked over pretty good, but got back up and went right back to it, no back down in that lil turd at all, it was awesome......trainin has begun, noses work and now I'm just gonna help them learn how to use it and see which will be gritty and which will have more bay...

Hey Cristina, sounds good, just let me know, not sure if you are wantin a male or female but I believe that male is what you had in mind!

I really want something that will catch, if the male is catching then he shall do lol. I'm big on the dog or human aggression, do any of the parents have any type of aggression? This will be the first pit since the last one we got rid of because of his dog aggression. He cost us a lot of money and damage to our hog dogs and he was just a yard dog. I guess I'm just paranoid.

I totally understand....The pit(Red) has absolutely no aggression at all, except to a hog, she loves people and the socializing with other dogs. The male lacy (Hank) is protective of me and my posessions, but I wouldn't say aggression, he is like most guard dogs, he will hunt and play with other dogs just not other males when his girlfriends are in heat ;), he's not fond of strangers except when in the woods, he don't care then its all business.

I understand possessive and protective we have a couple of dogs you would not want to mess with at the house or in the box but in the woods they could care less who you are. This dog I mentioned did not care, if the dog got close he was going to get locked on, I almost had to shoot him when he was locked on our lead dog. And I would never even think about killing a dog but he was getting scary, it was only a matter of time before his aggression turned to humans. Since then my dad said NO on pits. I might have to lie to him on this one ;). I'm planning to spend a lot of time with This pup and have em as a lead in catch dog. This will also be my first ca
tch dog that I can call mine. I think I still have your number but if i don't I will pm you

Ok sounds good, and you shouldn't have to worry, this is the 4th litter of this cross and all have turned out with great temperment and good drive, but no aggression to either human or dog.

Well they have seen pigs twice now and all seem to have good noses and an excellent drive, there are a few that seem to be a lil more advanced but all have whats needed, just need the nudge.

These lil boogers keep gettin better and better, and they crack me up!! They think they are 4 foot tall and 200 lbs. But today they shocked me, I turned one of the pigs loose in the yard today, not expecting much, let the pups run and they found and caught it in the ol' 4-wheeler tires behind the house :D. Dang I wish I had the room and time, I'd keep them all!!!!!!!

still have one lacy/cat cross female, and four lacy/pit cross females, male waiting pickup, they are getting better each day, not afraid of a hog at all. And are all bay until the hog turns then they run in for the catch!
