Title: 9/23 Hunt with Rafter F Post by: Silverton Boar Dogs on September 23, 2009, 01:57:57 am Great weather for hunting tonight low 50's rain this morning. Rancher called this morning need some help with hogs in a half section Milo patch, I already had the hunting on an adjoining section of hay grazer, and I Hate hay grazer....anyway the Milo looked good lots of sign. Wes met me about dark and we headed to the Milo, dropped some dogs and started driving around it, the owner was out there spotlighting but had not seen anything, so he left us in charge of hog eradication for the evening. We ran around the field once, found some wallows, one was about 9 feet long. On the second pass Smoke had a hog bayed just across the fence in the hay grazer we sent some more dogs and started in with the catch dogs. Well as usual the hog broke and we followed into the field that was between 3 and 7 feet tall. We had 5 bay dogs down and at one time we had 5 bays going, Wes stepped on a small pig and we both had many pigs run by us at arm's length. Adora almost caught on while still on the leash. We turned the catch dog loose a few times to no avail, there were dozens of hogs and 7 dogs running them every where all around us....like I said I hate hay grazer. Dogs caught a killed one I thing, :) we had to track to them and call them out. We were sokem wet and cold and the dogs were spent so we loaded up to head home. That's when the dogs winded from the truck so we sent 3 or 4 dogs into a native corner bordering some open ground. Boots and Cat hammered down and got some help. We grabbed some catch dogs and started to them. They were out in the open field a long way off and still moving.....we started running to them, Wes said he couldn't keep up because of the soft ground or his boots not being right or ;D....anyway Wes's dog boots got a hold so he sent his Airedale/bulldog cross Daisy and I sent Adora, I had another green Dogo down as well and she made it to the bay and caught well after the others. This sow was big , fat and mad. All the dogs were tired before starting her and she wearing them out. Wes has got the pictures, good hunt its nice to be cold for a change.

Paul, do yall have some pics of the Airedale/Bulldog cross? I wanna see. Title: Re: 9/23 Hunt with Rafter F Post by: Silverton Boar Dogs on September 23, 2009, 12:01:41 pm Yes Krystal, if Wes would stop working and get on the computer we would have some pics of the Airedale cross.
This grain patch is about 1 1/2 square miles in size and is very close to the canyon (Palo-Duro), we have several others to hunt in this area and will be busy untill its all cut. This is the same area where 143 hogs were shot in one day while they were cutting a single big hay-grazer patch. Title: Re: 9/23 Hunt with Rafter F Post by: rafterfpuncher on September 23, 2009, 08:46:32 pm Well I finally got home and got some pictures downloaded to post of last nights hunt. Had fun, but it sure was cold and wet out there in that tall hay grazer, and it did finally pay off, even it was on the way out. We'll give em hell tomorrow night again though.(http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/ab89/rafterfpuncher/036.jpg)
