Title: 9-23-09 Hunt Post by: Mike on September 24, 2009, 07:29:58 am UNDERDOG and John met me out at one of the neighborhood properties last night to take advantage of this cool weather. We had four young dogs on the ground ended up with a fat, young sow. She went 120# on the scale and the dogs did real good.

Title: Re: 9-23-09 Hunt Post by: UNDERDOG on September 24, 2009, 11:19:20 am Thanks Mike n John, I had a good time....the best part was not getting the pig but the young dogs turning it on,I like the way Tiger and Niko hunt together and it was a great feeling watching Shiner "get it" as far as figuring out what the bay is,kinda like the switch flipped last night. And it is nice to see all them long, hot hunts this summer starting to pay off for the cur pups too.I been on a 3 hunt catchin streak...maybe I am the good luck ;D
Here is another pic of the pig. (http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r219/BONEDIGGERKENNELS/DSC03255.jpg) Here is my bulldog pup Shiner @ about 16-17 months old, this hunt was his 5th maybe 6th catch. We sent him to the bay from about 100 yds out. That main thing is your young dogs got it done. You gotta love that. Title: Re: 9-23-09 Hunt Post by: UNDERDOG on September 24, 2009, 02:13:16 pm Cutterbay, I was just foolin round....we all like what we hunt and feed, but really how you describre where you hunt is not much different than were we hunted last night. And don't tell anyone but I have always had a bluetick around most of my life, rather have one of them than a holestien. ;) (I still own a good bluetick coon dog but let my buddy keep and feed him ha ha )
Title: Re: 9-23-09 Hunt Post by: Cutter Bay Kennels on September 24, 2009, 02:27:44 pm I've seen some of them "painted ponies" that could get it done on swine. That being said I could never muster up enough nerve to feed one. What line of bluedog are you hunting?
Title: Re: 9-23-09 Hunt Post by: UNDERDOG on September 24, 2009, 02:31:50 pm I've seen some of them "painted ponies" that could get it done on swine. Title: Re: 9-23-09 Hunt Post by: Cutter Bay Kennels on September 25, 2009, 08:36:36 am Underdog,
What is the breeding on those dogs? Did you dock their tails, or are they naturally bobbed? Title: Re: 9-23-09 Hunt Post by: skoalbandett on September 25, 2009, 08:55:28 am There ya go Mike,, Nice lookin youngin.. had to find young dogs that do that well that quick with no more huntin than he's had... I think they sure deserve much credit for both theirs and the catch dogs success..
Na... Bryant, I aint pickin on ya bulldogs, they got their place and have a important job in their own right but I am pickin on you for not posting pictures and giving equal credit to the gas that makes the truck useful.. lol Not sure how many he or any other one is gona catch without some find / bay dogs. ( in the woods and really huntin that is ) I dont discount one's value to the process but a Dang bulldog is supposed to come here catchin and most I have seen will with very little exposure. It's not hard at all to find all the good to pretty good ones you want to feed free, but good find bay dogs aint on every corner and it generally takes some time. JMO Title: Re: 9-23-09 Hunt Post by: Mike on September 25, 2009, 09:03:59 am You can't catch 'em if you can't find 'em! ;D
This is what i've always told new folks getting into hog hunting... they always get bulldogs first. ??? Title: Re: 9-23-09 Hunt Post by: cward on September 25, 2009, 09:07:24 am Good hog guys!!I agree with Skoal on the bulldog thing!!But even I get attached to them dang bulldogs!!But most all of them will catch some beter than others!!!! But a good find dog is hard get!!
Title: Re: 9-23-09 Hunt Post by: UNDERDOG on September 25, 2009, 09:25:16 am I hear ya Skoal...and I was just pickin at you based on some of our old bulldog debates lol ;)
My two young curs get plenty of credit no doubt, you know I been trying to hunt the hair off them all summer but getttin a pic of them ain't easy being as they are always gone hunting ha ha ;D Skoal, that Tiger dog is sure a nice young dog also,I enjoy hunting w/ him. Title: Re: 9-23-09 Hunt Post by: skoalbandett on September 27, 2009, 04:27:46 am This is what i've always told new folks getting into hog hunting... they always get bulldogs first. ??? Amen ! Part of it in my opinion : They are easier to find, cheeper, readly avaliable, very little to no training necessary, higher success rate with less work, time, money and effort to have a successful catch dog , the adrenalin rush some guys get from thier dog catching, not to mention some high levels of testrone  I just love the names of some bulldog fellers kennels.. lol |
