What other types of tracking systems are there that you can use hog hunting other than garmin?

Telemetry tracking systems like marshall, quick track. Ill always strap a quick track collar on before a garmin. If I had to choose between the two, the garmin would go in the trash.

I think Marshal is working on a GPS system- I believe there system will be 10 x better than Garmin!

I keep they are watching what Garmin is doing...but I agree, they need to get something out there while there is still a market for it.

Yep, everyone's been waiting for many years now. I just don't see how a telemetry company can compete with a gps company on a gps system? Unless they team up with another gps company like Magellan or whoever is out there.

Garmin has the market covered on gps satellites. My company owns 4 satellites and rents data from 16 more, which are mostly owned by garmin.

I run both telemetry and gps collars on my dogs. All my dogs are long range dogs and a lot of the areas we hunt they can get away from us and take us awhile to get around to them. Telemetry collars have never let me down, but the garmins I can only pull 1.5 miles to 2 miles on good days. Now they are nice when the dogs bay. Some telemetry collars have a tree light on them but the dog has to be elevated on a tree for it to go off, which unless your dog bays a hog standing on it's hind legs, it's not going to work.

m trying this 5/8 wave antenna on my garmin. Hoping it will track my dc-50's up to 5 miles.

I used to use a tracker classic telemetry setup. I don't think they make them anymore, but have seen used ones for sale for pretty cheap
