Title: Pen Time
Post by: K-Bar on March 09, 2015, 08:01:49 am
I just wanted to say thank you to Britt Garcia (Indian Valley Ranch) for the day my son and I spent with you this weekend.
I bought a day in his pen as a fundraiser for a young man about a year ago or so and schedules just would not work out. Well, it finally came together this weekend and my son and I loaded his puppies and made the long trip south. All the way down there I kept thinking, "this is stupid to drive 7 hrs to bark at a pig in a pen!". Well let me tell you it was well worth it and then some. I had never been in a pen like that before so I didn't think it would be tricky at all to find a pig for the pups. Wrong!! I'm not exactly sure how big it is,  I'd say around 20-30 acres but it's got enough thick stuff in there with some hills thrown in to make it as real as it can be and still have a fence around it. It was absolutely awsome for the puppies. They got to find their first pigs and had to think, trail, work, lose them etc. Wonderful day. We got to spend the day with some great folks, which always makes it a good trip no matter what you're doing. Lamar, Cade, Chop,Miles and the girls were all very nice people and made my son and I feel like one of the group even though we'd just met. I honestly got my fire lit again for pig hunting. It's awsome to have this feeling again. It's been a while since I've actually wanted to go pig hunting but I am looking forward to this next weekend! haha Thank you for that Britt. It's a great thing to spend time with people you enjoy, doing something you love. My son and I are making plans to get after them! hahaThanks again. The experience those puppies got in one day in your pen would have taken a heck of a long time to get in the real world. I feel like they would be able to go find an easy one and politely ask him to stop right now. ;) That would have taken a long time in the real world. I can't tell you how much I appreciate the time this weekend and the overall fun  my son and I had, as well as refreshing the love of the sport you gave me back. Thank you guys and gals so much. We will be back for some more pen time and a woods hunt one day. The biggest reason to come back is the people there. Thanks again

Was a pleasure meeting you and your son. Sorry we didn't get to stick around that evening.

Heard your pups did very well and would have enjoyed watching them work.
Very nice looking pack I might add!

Hope yall had a safe trip back north and glad to see it was worth the drive to check out the Piney Woods.

Not gonna meet better folks than Britt.  ;)

Haha. That's the truth.

All my buddies shook me down before I left to reclaim leashes and gear!

They just don't understand the term "Buddy Borrowing"    ;D

I really enjoyed having y'all down Kelly, it was nice to finally meet John and get those pups going. A turn around trip like that is tough but I'm glad you were happy with the end result. I sure wish we lived closer together, but you know your welcome anytime. It was a good weekend for the Barger dogs all the way around, glad you were here to see Bella catch her 1st hog. She is a top notch bulldog female and I appreciate you and Kara allowing her to be a part of my breeding program. She will no doubt have a big impact on what I produce in the coming years.

I want to thank everyone who helped out on Saturday. Kade/2kranch and his wife Kerri, Lamar/Ironheadkennels, and Chop Thompson. There were plenty of hogs and dogs to be handled and I appreciate yalls help a bunch . I'm glad yalls pups and dogs got some work in as well.

YBM, it was good to have you and your better half out Saturday afternoon. Always good to catch up and see the yellers work.

Brandon/Hogsnatchers, thanks for supplying us with some good boars to work this weekend. I can't thank you enough, this weekend was a success because of you.

To everyone who has chimed in, thanks for the kind words. I count you all as good friends.

So you're that guy YBM!! They were stompin about somebody like that but they never mentioned any names!! hahaha Just kidding

Britt it was a pleasure and it always makes a person feel good to see some of their blood obviously being well cared for and doing what they are bred to do. We got a great report on one of her brothers in eastern Ok today also. That always makes you feel good too! haha
