Title: SS109 bullets for reloading
Post by: charles on May 31, 2015, 07:43:25 pm
i seen 2 boxes of 1000rd of the 5.56 penetrator projectiles for $135 (13.5c per bullet before powder and primers). since i can't find the projectiles anywhere except for completed rounds, do yaw think 135 is to much, or do you know where there are some cheaper?

I don't know but i heard that the 300 black out was going for 75 cent per spent casing to a reloader, i wish that i knew someone to pay that because i have a couple thousand brass casings ,

I nvr thought much on that 300 black out. A 30 cal bullet in a 5.56 casing. Not much powder to get the job done at any good distance. What's the effective range on that 300? The 5.56 is good out to 500yds in the right hands, but even the average joe can hit targets out to 300yds and still bring down game or a human.

They say the max effective range on the 300 is roughly 450 meters, so I'd say the same as you, the right shooter would be deadly at 4 to 5 hundred , i don't know much about it, my buddy owns a gun range and some folks came and tested that rifle with different barrels and left behind a BUNCH of those spent casings, when he told me what they were going for I picked up a bunch of them. (With his permission)

Charles, 135 per 1000, or or 2000?  I used to buy my bullets by the hundred but I was loading sierra match kings, and if I recall they were less than 20 bucks per hundred.  Also where were you looking?  I always seemed to find the best prices at midway usa.

I got a friend that built a short barreled , suppressed  300 blackout with an IR scope, kills a ton o pork with it, but he set with his set up, 100 yds & that's it.

Iv looked on midway and havent seen them penetrator bullets. That was a couple months ago, so ill look at them again. But if cabelas is $20 cheaper, then there aint reason to bother with midway, but it dont hurt to look.

I guess ill buy both boxes this werk if they are still there.

Anything shot sub sonic isn't very useful over 100 yards.

I like the idea of a 30 Cal sub. The only reason I would get one is because it is in an ar platform. A 308 bolt shooting sub ammo with a can would be better for hunting in my opinion.
