Title: Quick Hunt 6-19-15 Post by: Cajun on June 20, 2015, 08:51:04 pm Made a hunt behind the house with Mike Starling, Andy Becker, and my Grandson Ethan. Mike had told us he had two boars on this one feeder, one of them being a really nice hog. We went to that feeder & the dogs were telling us we were in hogs. We turned loose at 6:00 am and the dogs left there screaming. They had the hog jumped in 200 yards and ran this big boar right over us. This hog made some big loops & lined out. About 45 minutes later we heard a roar of a bay. We rode the 4 wheelers within a 100 yards and then had a nice trail right to the bay. The bay was deafening with 6 Plotts pouring it on. We turned the bulldog loose from 30 yards and ran in behind him. Andy legged the hog & I helped him get it over. Ethan started pulling dogs off & we got the hog tied. He was about 250-275# with about 1 1/2" cutters. We made a barr out of him and got out of there before it got real hot.
By the damage done to the dogs we knew they had caught him earlier & then had to back off & bay after a while. Mike had to take his Deacon dog to the Vet because of muscle damage. My Flash dog had a 6 inch gash along his jaw & throat with about 4 other gashes in him. Bosco had his share but nothing serious. I missed a cut on my bulldog, I saw a small skin cut on his front leg but the next morning I saw him holding his front paw up & the whole bottom of the pad was sliced open. The weird thing was his back leg which did not have a mark on it, he could not put his foot down flat but was walking on the top of the foot like nerve damage. A rough hog for sure.
