But when a bigger one gets there they can hold good. I have just always had better luck with smaller dogs

I think they do best in the thickets and I think they tend to move faster through thick woods. I do like a big heavy male catch dog in the 75 lb range. I also prefer mid to smaller dogs because I can haul more of them in my ranger.

Title: Re: Small framed dogs vs large frame Post by: Bo Pugh on September 16, 2015, 01:21:28 pm i like a dog about 55lbs with a good bit of leg,anything bigger than that has a hard time in the thickets and tends to fall back to last in the race, one of the top three dogs i have ever seen was a dog about 35lbs half jag terrier he was a hog dog, he would be there til the end whether it be 6 hours later and was seen him very mant times be the only dog that could take the track, so size really dont mean alot in catching hogs its what ever is under the hood.
