Post by: Duncan92 on November 25, 2015, 09:35:36 pm
I have been wondering how I could dock My blue heelers tail she is 6 months old and stays in the house and her tail keeps knocking over stuff and we want to keep her as a housedog so the tail gas to go that and it bleeds every time she hits it on something i heard u could use castration bands but was for sure any advice?

Take the dog to the vet and have it done.    Banding will rot it off and it will stink.    Further more your wanting to rot the bone off when doing that.      Don't sound to good to me to band a tail.

X2 take the dog to the vet. now if you had access to medical supplies, you could put the dog under, cut the tail, bone and all just past where you want the tail docked at, cut out the bone at the next digit above where you want the tail at then sew the little bit of skin that cover the section of tail bone you cut out. then make sure it is given its antibiotics. but I'm sure it would faster, easier and cheaper to take it to the vet. 3-6 day old puppies, yes, castration band works best with no bleeding and no pain to them.
