Title: Pups legs bowing
Post by: Not color blind on December 22, 2015, 08:18:13 pm
Got two litter mates who's front legs are bowing, start out strait in the morning and start bowing in the evening time. I've heard of this before, from a vitamin defeincy, is there any one on here that has incountered this and if so what vitamins were used to get them thru it?

What they said above... change feed and make sure they get plenty of sunlight. Also, what type of floor are they on? I've heard of people having that problem in raised pens with wire mesh floors.

my slabbed puppy kennel is under  shed and  no sunlight gets  in or hardly any at all ...I have never had  one  bow and they are on self feeder .. I never feed more than 24 % protein .......I have seen problems with pups  on mesh flooring usually on the back end  though  .....

Its just too much protein in pup's feed. Bone grows faster than ligaments can keep up and they bow. He will catch up and be fine. I'd keep him from being too rambunctious until it looks more normal. There's a name for it but i forget wat it is. Used to see it some in larger bulldogs. The protein level will be fine for all your pups, but for some reason, that bow legged pup cant handle that level. Lower his protein to lowest u can find, some people will brace the leg, but i never did,,just confined em to a small pen by themself. Good luck
