Title: Tying a hog Post by: 7Mhunter on January 26, 2016, 09:51:03 pm Just curious what everyone ties with. We usually use mule tape but made some paracord pigging strings today. Anyone use the paracord hobbles?

If you want a crazy color or pattern I can order it. About to learn how to make them round and how to make hobbles with it.

Title: Re: Tying a hog Post by: justincorbell on January 28, 2016, 08:54:00 am I like used 550 paracord myself but just about and rope will work in a pinch. Between myself and my buddies we have tried just about every type of hobble around and I personally havent found a pair I like yet, simply more comfortable using 550 cord, its quick, easy, small and plenty strong enough to hold a hog.
Title: Re: Tying a hog Post by: 7Mhunter on January 28, 2016, 11:06:14 am I've only used a set of hobbles once. Don't even think I came out of the woods with them lol. Thought about building some out of paracord. Tied a hog yesterday with the piggin string and liked them a lot!

Title: Re: Tying a hog Post by: liefalwepon on January 30, 2016, 09:45:39 pm OK another question about tying, Is there a best order for tying the feet? top front first then bottom back, then bottom front and top back?
Title: Re: Tying a hog Post by: 7Mhunter on January 31, 2016, 07:07:05 am We do either. Top back to bottom front or vise versa. I've seen people tie both back then both front and then suck them together.

Title: Re: Tying a hog Post by: jdt on January 31, 2016, 11:38:45 am cut a slit big enough to get the nut out . themain thing is cut it as low on the sack as you can so it can drain .
Title: Re: Tying a hog Post by: 7Mhunter on January 31, 2016, 02:28:43 pm If you cut him either pull the sack or scrape it. Never just cut it or he will bleed and lots of time for.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Title: Re: Tying a hog Post by: 7Mhunter on January 31, 2016, 09:54:27 pm On a big hog we scrape it after making the incision. On a small hog we just pull them and they pretty much rip and it will grow back. Just keeps them from bleeding out but they can still drain and heal right.

when castrating i make the cut plenty big , the reason is i don't want it healing over on the outside before it's healed on the inside . it needs to drain . on bulls i cut 1\3 of the sack off the bottom , on boars i slit it 1\3 the way up from the bottom . when possible i do it by the sighns , to my knowledge i've never lost one . Title: Re: Tying a hog Post by: 7Mhunter on February 02, 2016, 06:06:01 pm We figured out after cutting the paracord 6 ft you can only tie 3 ft. Started 7.5 ft and 15! Works good
