Title: Whelping box Post by: GOODEN on August 05, 2016, 10:03:26 pm Since I've got a litter of 1/2 cat 1/2 plott that I have HIGH hopes for I decided I'd throw together a lil box for them and hope for the best in this heat. With the help from my kids it only took a lil over an hour to put it together. They are excited about the pups coming next week. Once I put the box in kennel with my gyp I put a fan on her and may ad another.

Both are silent and can take a track to the end. Hopefully they'll pass on the traits to the pups. Title: Re: Whelping box Post by: CHRIS H. on August 05, 2016, 10:14:34 pm I can't tell from the picture but alot of people put a ledge around the inside of the box so the momma dog doesn't kill one of the pups by smothering it .

He said it was pretty popular with old time bird dog people .. I'm sure it goes beyond that , but the idea is they get to walk out the welling box and mess without living in it .

Im sure it could .. Those sounds like some good ideas you have for making it work in the winter . I asked him what he thought about putting it on a skid to be able to move around , but then he reminded me how he has a tractor for that . I'd probably put it on a skid tho |
