Title: One for y'all Texans.
Post by: Georgia-Hawgs on November 28, 2016, 02:35:04 pm
Came across this sign the other day and the guy said I could have it. Hung it on my gate at the top of my pasture. I dont even have a clue where that road is in texas but I thought it was neat. We don't have "farm road" signs here in Georgia that I know of. What's that all about?

Georgia, where bouts in ga are you? We just flew in to atlanta from houston today and came across several fires west of atlanta and some in eastern bama. On top of chity weather/rain with totational movement all the way from houston untill east of montgomery, al, it was 1 rough mofo. Anyhow, reason i was asking ur location, is to make sure your not in the area of the fire. We contacted atlana tower and they didnt seem to give a damn. My conpany a/c just left lynchburg va and are in talahassee, fl but unk for how long. Hopefully yaw are not in its area and if so, they get it contained fast

Thanks shotgun. And Charles I'm a little over an hour from Atlanta. I'm north east of it.

We've had a bad drought here lately and it's caused several good sized wild fired. Look at my pasture in that picture. Dry as a bone. You can take your foot and rake the dry grass down to the dirt. The cows have been eating hay all summer long.

They been battling these fires for weeks now. There all over the place including north Carolina. We have had heavy smoke in my area but that's about it. I breathe about like one of them squished faced bulldogs and it about kills me when the smoke is thick.

Our sister tanked ship just arrived to the location we left and we are in a location with no fires, while gatlinburg is burned to the ground, which is where we are trying to get to drop our helicopter off for overhaul, and yet we are sitting on our asses in a prepositioned no fire area. What was told to us for the reasoning we arent on some of these fires is bc some of these fires are on state land, not federal land and state doesnt have the $ to pay us, or the us forestry service for aerial fire fighting. I dont understand it, with all the federal gov intrusion upon the states, they would rather see the state burn than just put us on it and pay for it out of gov funding. The gov wants wants wants, but doesnt like giving it back when the states need it.

That sounds about right Charles. Is a bass akwards way of doing things. Thats for sure. We did get a good bit of rain last night, this morning, and calling for more the next few days. Maybe it hit all the right places. I know here at the house we haven't had a drop of rain in months.

FM= a road that's not as number 2ty as a county road but also not good enough to be called a highway. And 90% of the time, atleast where I'm from, the fm roads are almost just as bad as driving on county roads.
