That bulldog pup should be a good one as momma came from a long line of good catch dogs and the daddy was a fine catch dog.

Title: Re: New Additions to the Team Post by: TheRednose on June 22, 2017, 12:55:30 pm That cat/walker looks close to perfect. Does the plott have Dollin's bloodline? I don't think so she is a Shamrock bred pup so I think that would go way back to some heavy Weems blood, but I would have to really look at the ped to know for sure. He is out of a bitch named Yonder. I really like Rio, he is about as athletic of a dog as I have seen. But he is still only about 11 months old so time will tell. Title: Re: New Additions to the Team Post by: WayOutWest on June 22, 2017, 01:35:47 pm I hunted over Yonder many times and after you caught a few and wanted to quit the main job was catching her when you got to the bay cause she was rollin over and hunting again. Her speed was something to see too. Saw her just smoke dogs on the track.
Title: Re: New Additions to the Team Post by: make-em-squeel on June 22, 2017, 04:58:37 pm Great looking pit

I like line bred but if i ever crossed up again i had good luck with GSP fyi Title: Re: New Additions to the Team Post by: TheRednose on June 22, 2017, 10:47:28 pm Great looking pit you can keep those open dogs, hope they work for well for you, good looking though. I like line bred but if i ever crossed up again i had good luck with GSP fyi My Walker/Cat cross Rio is as silent as a mouse until he is looking at one. My little Plott will most likely be very open but I will not be using her on hogs anyways. She will be ran on big game. Title: Re: New Additions to the Team Post by: BriarBay on June 23, 2017, 12:50:39 pm I have 3 female litter mates 1/2 and 1/2 cat/walker crosses. They just turned 3 y/o and the switch flipped, now they are sho nuf hog dogs. They get mouthy when they jump, but have the drive to put the brakes on one and are gritty as hell on a small hog and will jump on a big hog with the CD. I started from scratch with all puppies, none of which came from hog hunting parents, but after lots and lots of trips to the woods I couldn't be happier with what I have now. I want to breed my best female to something...either an Airedale I have thats doing good or a friends English pointer whose finding lots of hogs.

Title: Re: New Additions to the Team Post by: Goose87 on June 24, 2017, 09:46:22 am Cat/walker crosses are some of my favorite, it's hard to beat a walker dogs toughness when it comes to everyday running and running in thick brush..

The Plott with Shamrock bloodlines does go back to a lot of Weems breeding but also has some other stuff including Cascade Big Timber. Most likely will be open on track as Joe ( founder of the Shamrock line) breeds for open trailing dogs.

But I got her to run on big game not hogs, so I want to her to be open. |
